The synchronous microvoltmeter detector allows linear (to 1 dB) measurements of signal amplitudes of 1 to 500 pV with a band passing at -3 dB higher at 9 MHz. Between 0.1 and 1 pV, signifieant noise prevents a precise reading of the amplitude, which however remains proportional to the signal to be measured, contrary to the situation with the unmodified spectrometer. 

Buildtech (construction textiles) These are textile materials used in construction, such as concrete reinforcement, facade foundation systems, insulation, proofing materials, air conditioning, noise prevention, visual protection, building safety, etc. 

Uses. Sound-absorbing materials are frequendy used to reduce reverberation, or the persistence of sound in a space after generation of the sound ceases to reduce focused reflections from concave surfaces to prevent echoes, or delayed sound reflections from distant surfaces and to prevent the buildup of sound by multiple reflections within rooms and other enclosures. Sound-absorbing materials also are used to reduce the transmission of noise from one location to another by multiple reflections from sound-reflecting surfaces. 

The vertical vibratoiy mill has good wear values and a low-noise output. It has an unfavorable residence-time distribution, since in continuous operation it behaves like a well-stirred vessel. Tube mills are better for continuous operation. The mill volume of the vertical mill cannot be arbitrarily scaled up because the static load of the upper media, especially with steel beads, prevents thorough energy introduction into the lower layers. Larger throughputs can therefore only be obtained by using more mill troughs, as in tube mills. 

Evidence of localized corrosion can be obtained from polarization methods such as potentiodynamic polarization, EIS, and electrochemical noise measurements, which are particularly well suited to providing data on localized corrosion. When evidence of localized attack is obtained, the engineer needs to perform a careful analysis of the conditions that may lead to such attack. Correlation with process conditions can provide additional data about the susceptibility of the equipment to locaHzed attack and can potentially help prevent failures due to pitting or crevice corrosion. Normally there is some connection between the airflow rate and noise and vibration generation. This could modify the building construction either to prevent spreading or to diminish the levels of noise and vibrations from the air-handling units. This naturally includes all parts of these units, i.e., fans, pumps, and valves (see Chapters 5 and 9). The demands on noise insulation also include the noise and vibrations from the process equipment, which often has a higher level of noise and vibration than the ventilation system. 

From the energy and noise point of view, care must be taken to prevent undue airflow resistance. This is achieved by not normally having more than five tube rows. 

LVHV nozzles can create problems that may be sufficiently severe as to prevent their use, usually in the form of ergonomic encumbrances and excessive noise. These problems can be dealt with, to limited extents, and LVHV applications can be effective. It must also be understood that dust control by 1..VHV systems is ultimately limited. No ventilation control measure can ensure sufficient worker protection down to extraordinatily low acceptable dust levels. Worker protection must always be confirmed by industrial hygiene monitoring and evaluation, and administrative control measures such as respiratory protection may be necessary. 

It is common practice to support the fan on anti-vibration mountings and connect the fan casing to the duct by short lengths of flexible non-combustible material. Care should be taken during installation to see that these are aligned to prevent entry turbulence and noise generation. 

Where the noise to which the notice relates is that caused by carrying out a trade or business, that the best practicable means have been used for preventing or for counteracting the effects of the noise.
