Di-n-amyl n-amylphosphonate [6418-56-0] M 292.4, b 150-151°/2mm, n 1.4378. Purified by three crystns of its uranyl nitrate complex from hexane (see tributyl phosphate). Extracts Zr " from NaCl solns. [Pg.417]

Willis 93) extracted lead directly from 200 ml of urine with APDC into 1.5 ml of methyl-n-amyl ketone. He was able to determine as little as 0.02 ppm of lead. Kopito and Shwachman 141>, on the other hand, co-precipitate the lead from urine with bismuth nitrate by adding ammonia. The precipitated bismuth hydroxide is dissolved in acid and this solution is aspirated. Coprecipitation of the lead is not quantitative, and so standards should be prepared in the same manner. It should be possible to employ this procedure with protein free filtrates of blood without the necessity of close pH control. [Pg.96]

Davis studied the dehydration of urea nitrates as a route to iV-nitroureas. The nitrate salt of iV-methylurea undergoes dehydration-rearrangement on treatment with concentrated sulfuric acid to give Af-nitro-A -methylurea in 42 % yield. In this compound the nitro and methyl groups are attached to the same nitrogen and so its hydrolysis can provide a route to methylnitramine. In contrast, the nitrate salts of ethyl, n-propyl, n-butyl and n-amyl ureas, give iV-nitro-A -ethylurea (49 %), A -nitro-A -propylurea (60 %), iV-nitro-iV -butylurea (67 %) and iV-nitro-A -amylurea (67 %), respectively, on treatment with concentrated sulfuric acid. [Pg.233]

J. W. Briihl s observations on the refractive indices agreed with the formula H0.0.N=0 but R. Lowenherz s values for ethyl, propyl, isobutyl, and amyl nitrates agree better with the quinquevalent nitrogen atom. H. E. Armstrong and F. P. Worley made some observations on the constitution of nitric acid—vide sulphuric acid. H. Burgarth, H. Remy, and H. Henstock discussed the electronic structure and from observations on the absorption spectra of sodium and potassium nitrates in different solvents, G. Scheibe inferred that the nitrate ion is dipolar, and that the electronic structure is such that the first of the following forms exists in equilibrium with small proportion of the second ... [Pg.566]

Tri-n-amyl phosphate (TAP) is a promising extractant for use in fast reactor fuel reprocessing. The effect of diluent on the enthalpy of extraction of uranyl nitrate by tri-n-amyl phosphate was studied in the temperature range 283 K to 303 K employing a number of diluents including isooctane, n-dodecane, cyclohexane and benzene. Except o-dichlorobenzene, all the diluents gave almost comparable enthalpy values. [Pg.106]

The effect of solvent structure on the enthalpy of extraction of americium (III) nitrate was studied using various trialkyl phosphates such as tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP), tri-isobutyl phosphate, tri-n-amyl phosphate (TAP), tri-isoamyl phosphate and tri-n-hexyl phosphate. The results indicated that the enthalpy of extraction decreased in the order TBP>TsBP>TAP>TiAP THP. This behaviour was in contrast to the variation of the enthalpy of extraction of uranium (VI) with the alkyl carbon stmcture of the trialkyl phosphates reported in literature. [Pg.106]
