As outlined in Table IV, in a multivariable analysis, patients with intermediate and high risk for relapse had greatly increased rates of death compared to lower risk patients. Recipients of the second formulation of Theratope vaccine had a lower risk of death than recipients of the first formulation of vaccine. Higher IgG titers of antibody to OSM was associated with lower rates of death. Proliferative index against STn and OVACAR killing with IL2 or without IL2 stimulation were not stastically significantly different. [Pg.209]

To find out which of the different possible parameters (such as number of dendrites, dendritic length, index of ramification, etc.) which define the dendritic structure of a neuron could be more affected by T, Ipina and Ruiz-Marcos defined the whole dendritic structure of a pyramidal neuron by a set of 10 such variables. The results obtained by these authors from the multivariate analysis of the values attained by... [Pg.98]

The incidence of this comphcation has been analysed using hospital records from a large institution in Wisconsin over 8 years [26 ]. Documentation on 1105 patients with breast cancer pointed to 24 cases of NASH (2.2%). Seven patients had NASH before their diagnosis of breast cancer, but 17 developed NASH after the diagnosis of breast cancer. In multivariate analysis, the factors associated with NASH were use of tamoxifen (OR = 8.2 95% Cl=1.1, 64), body mass index (BMI) (OR=1.1 95% CI=1.1, 1.2), and age (OR=0.95 95% 0=0.91, 0.99 NASH improved after tamoxifen was stopped. After discontinuation of tamoxifen, aminotransferases returned to normal in 14 of 16 patients. NASH was thus associated with the use of tamoxifen but improved when tamoxifen was stopped. [Pg.670]

A homogeneity index or significance coefficienf has been proposed to describe area or spatial homogeneity characteristics of solids based on data evaluation using chemometrical tools, such as analysis of variance, regression models, statistics of stochastic processes (time series analysis) and multivariate data analysis (Singer and... [Pg.129]

A more detailed analysis using multivariable regression of the ibuprofen data demonstrated that a three-parameter model accurately fit the data (Table 7). The Bonding Index and the Heywood shape factor, a, alone explained 86% of the variation, while the best three-variable model, described in what follows, explained 97% of the variation and included the Bonding Index, the Heywood shape factor, and the powder bed density. All three parameters were statistically significant, as seen in Table 7. Furthermore, the coefficients are qualitatively as... [Pg.308]

An analysis of the t(30) values, using multivariate statistical methods, has been carried out by Chastrette et al. [193]. According to this analysis, the x(30) values of non-HBD solvents are measures of the dipolarity and polarizability as well as the cohesion of the solvents. Another analysis of x(30) values in terms of functions of the dielectric constant sf and refractive index ( d) of forty non-HBD solvents has been given by Bekarek et al he emphasizes the predominant influence of the f(fir) term on the iix(30) parameter of those solvents [194]. For further correlations of the x(30) values with other empirical parameters of solvent polarity, see Section 7.6. [Pg.425]

A different approach to mathematical analysis of the solid-state C NMR spectra of celluloses was introduced by the group at the Swedish Forest Products Laboratory (STFI). They took advantage of statistical multivariate data analysis techniques that had been adapted for use with spectroscopic methods. Principal component analyses (PCA) were used to derive a suitable set of subspectra from the CP/MAS spectra of a set of well-characterized cellulosic samples. The relative amounts of the I and I/3 forms and the crystallinity index for these well-characterized samples were defined in terms of the integrals of specific features in the spectra. These were then used to derive the subspectra of the principal components, which in turn were used as the basis for a partial least squares analysis of the experimental spectra. Once the subspectra of the principal components are validated by relating their features to the known measures of variability, they become the basis for analysis of the spectra of other cellulosic samples that were not included in the initial analysis. Here again the interested reader can refer to the original publications or the overview presented earlier. ... [Pg.513]
