Multistep, one-pot sequential reactions are considered to be an ideal synthetic methodology because they do not require isolation and purification procedures for intermediates between reaction steps. They also reduce the necessary time and reagents. The intentional design of model systems can be envisioned, as for instance binary or multiple assemblies (clusters) of active components and poisons, for the examination of their activity in chemisorption, or specific reactions.
