Activities of Oxy-Hb and DeOxy-Hb on Motor Imaging and Motor Execution by... [Pg.591]

Keywords— Motor imaging, neuron activity. Near Infrared Spectroscopy, Brain Computer Interface. [Pg.591]

The available NIRS instrument (FOIRE - 3000 from Shi-madzu Corporation, Japan) was used to measure the change in concentration of Oxy-Hb and DeOxy-Hb during left and right-hand motor imaging and motor execution. The illuminator and detector optodes were placed on the scalp. The detector opto-des were fixed at a distance of 3 cm from the illuminator optodes. The optodes were arranged on the left and right hemisphere on the subject s head, above the motor cortex, around C3 (left hemisphere) and C4 (right hemisphere) areas (International 10-20 System). A pair of illuminator and detector... [Pg.592]

The external trigger input allows automatic inspections and ultrasonic imaging. The clock signal of an encoder or of stepper motors can be used as a trigger for the pulser. An internal software controlled divider allows different scan resolutions. [Pg.858]

The software US-SCAN 3.0 (IBT GmbH, Ober-Ramstadt, Germany) provides all functions of a portable flaw detector and a powerful ultrasonic imaging in A-, B-, C- and D-scans. Not only motor driven scanners can he used, but also manual scanning systems with encoders. Further documentation and test reports can be carried out with Windows software. [Pg.859]

Protein dynamics—the action of enzymes and molecular motors—provides the key to understanding the biochemistry of this cheetah and the grasses through which it runs. (Frank Lane/Parfitt/Tony Stone Images)... [Pg.425]

As an example of the importance of process parameters monitoring, consider a process pump that may be critical to plant operation. Vibration-based predictive maintenance will provide the mechanical condition of the pump and infrared imaging will provide the condition of the electric motor and bearings. Neither provides any indication of the operating efficiency of the pump. Therefore, the pump can be operating at less than 50 per cent efficiency and the predictive maintenance program would not detect the problem. [Pg.803]

Figure 12. Schematic view of the projector used to launch 3 simultaneous Rayleigh beams into the sky. A spinning mirror Ml at an image of the exit pupil directed successive laser pulses into three separate beams (only 2 shown here) without causing beam wander on the primary mirror M2. Electronic synchronization was implemented between the motor and the laser. Figure 12. Schematic view of the projector used to launch 3 simultaneous Rayleigh beams into the sky. The treatment of non-motor symptoms, such as psychological conditions, sleep disorders, and autonomic dysfunction, should include both pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic approaches. Patients should be given suggestions for maintaining ADLs, a positive self-image, family communication, and a safe environment. [Pg.482]

Silent" brain lesions on magnetic resonance imaging are associated with poor cognitive and fine motor functions pseudotumor cerebri (case report)... [Pg.1008]

The size of particles is of great importance, and particle size determinations should be carried out in preformulation as well in formulation functions. For small particle sizes, simple microscopy [41] may be used, but again imaging techniques, particularly with motorized stages, are more representative and much easier to carry out [42],... [Pg.184]

So far, commercial applications have been developed only for poly(3HB-co-3HV) (Biopol) by ICI [52,142]. This material has been processed into bottles for hair care products (Wella) and biodegradable motor oil [84]. Moreover, various containers, disposable razors, and food trays for holding portions of fish and meat in the refrigerated section of supermarkets were all manufactured from Biopol and sold in Japan [84,143]. In these cases, the rather expensive Biopol is used solely for its green image in order to increase product sales and to open up the market for other applications, which require biodegradability for functional reasons [18]. [Pg.284]

Intrauterine seizures may occur. The electroencephalogram often displays a hypsarrhythmia or a burst-suppression pattern. Patients display myoclonic jerks, hiccuping and a profound hypotonia. The few patients who survive past the first week usually sustain profound mental retardation and neurological disability. Brain imaging shows atrophy and a loss of myelin. Rarely, patients present later in life with psychomotor retardation and growth failure. Others have had initial normal development followed by a progressive loss of developmental milestones. Some patients have manifested spinocerebellar degeneration and other symptoms of motor dysfunction [27],... [Pg.674]

Many laboratories are equipped with commercial video frame grabbers and video image analysis systems, the operation of which is nicely explained by Russ (5). Many of the concepts involved apply both to video analysis and to the analysis of matrices obtained with a mechanical scanning stage driven by a stepper motor. Video scanning is very rapid, but slow mechanical scanning can be very precise and accurate. [Pg.147]
