Monitoring frequencies waters

Water systems. The water systems at ABC Pharmaceutical Industries are monitored per manufacturing site SOP for Microbiological Monitoring of Water. The levels of water tested are city water, purified water (deionized water), and water for injection (WFI). Manufacturing site SOP describes the procedures for obtaining samples, sampling frequencies, test procedures, and acceptance criteria (alert and action limits).

The monitoring frequencies quoted in the Directive might not be practical for transitional and coastal waters for Nordic lakes, which can be iced for months or for Mediterranean rivers, which can run dry several months a year. 

This kind of probe could be implemented to monitor the water outflow from factories for example. These warning systems could be useful to inform about the water pollution. Thus, a change in intensity or in frequency in the initial spectral water signature (initial water state) may reflect an anomaly which requires a more accurate measurement in laboratory with sampling when a threshold is exceeded.

In the following years, with the evolution of the analytical instrumentation, the limits of detection were lowered tremendously and in consequence the number of compounds monitored in water grew remarkably. Many new compounds are now referred as emerging compounds once among these new analytes, pharmaceutical and products of personal care started to be monitored in waters with increasing frequency in the last years. 

Of the 22 pesticides analyzed in water, 21 were found to be present in some or all of the samples analyzed cyanazine was the only undetected compound. Figure 2 shows the concentration of individual and total pesticides and their frequency of detection in the water samples collected from each of the six sampling sites monitored.
