Hexafluoropropylene—tetrafluoroethylene copolymers are available in low melt viscosity, extmsion grade, intermediate viscosity, high melt viscosity, and as dispersions. The low melt viscosity (MV) resin can be injection molded by conventional thermoplastic molding techniques. It is more suitable for injection molding than other FEP resins (51). 

Acrylics processed by compression-molding techniques give dentures as satisfactory and dimensionally stable as the estimated 5% of the dentures made with special resins and elaborate processing equipment (208). Promising fiber-reinforced dentures have been reported (209—212). 

Figure 19 illustrates one type of compression mold suitable for molding lip type shaft seals with a metal outside diameter (O.D.). Figure 19a shows the compound preform resting on the shelf and the mold beginning to close. The mold continues to close until it gets to the position shown in Fig. 19b. PPO has a high Tm because of the presence of the chain-stiffening 1,4-phen-ylene moiety, which makes up the major portion of the backbone of this polymer (the oxygen atom constitutes the remainder).
