Teflon TFE-Fluorocarbon Resins Molding Techniques, 2nd ed., buUetia, E.I. du Pont de Nemours Co., Inc., Wilmington, Del., 1966. [Pg.357]

Hexafluoropropylene—tetrafluoroethylene copolymers are available in low melt viscosity, extmsion grade, intermediate viscosity, high melt viscosity, and as dispersions. The low melt viscosity (MV) resin can be injection molded by conventional thermoplastic molding techniques. It is more suitable for injection molding than other FEP resins (51). [Pg.359]

Acrylics processed by compression-molding techniques give dentures as satisfactory and dimensionally stable as the estimated 5% of the dentures made with special resins and elaborate processing equipment (208). Promising fiber-reinforced dentures have been reported (209—212). [Pg.489]

Figure 19 illustrates one type of compression mold suitable for molding lip type shaft seals with a metal outside diameter (O.D.). Figure 19a shows the compound preform resting on the shelf and the mold beginning to close. The mold continues to close until it gets to the position shown in Fig. 19b. Finally, the mold opens as shown in Fig. 19c. It can be seen that this molding technique produces a molded lip seal with the flash already removed. In general, when using a vacuum chamber on the press, to ensure that all the air and/or gases are evacuated from the mold after closure, one or... These values should be increased whenever compatible with desired design and good molding techniques. [Pg.165]

Bag molding Hinterspritzen This patented process allows virgin or recycled TPs such as PP, PC/ABS, etc. to thermally bond with the backing of multilayer PP based fabrics providing good elasticity. This one step molding technique provides a low cost approach for in-mold fabric lamination that range from simple to complex shapes. [Pg.512]

The most well known application of PHB and poly(3HB-co-3HV) is as substitute for conventional, non-biodegradable plastics used for packaging purposes and derived products [21, 115, 116]. Single-use bottles for shampoos, cosmetics and biodegradable motor-oil have been manufactured from these biopolyesters by common molding techniques. Containers and cups for food products were developed similarly, and bags have been produced from blown films of the material. [Pg.272]

Although most boats are produced via the open mold spray-up process, environmental pressures are mounting due to the high styrene monomer emissions that are inherent in open molding techniques. Closed molded techniques are beginning to be commercially practiced, and it is anticipated that these processes will replace the open mold process. [Pg.710]

While there are a wide variety of blow-molding techniques, there are three main blowmolding procedures ... [Pg.565]

Although some molding techniques are adaptable to the production of thermoset materials, thermoforming is carried out using thermoplastic materials. [Pg.570]

Birefringence can also be used to analyze polymer samples after melt processing. As we will see in the next chapter, the shear produced in certain molding techniques, such as injection molding, can orient polymer chains in certain parts of the mold, especially near the mold walls, whereas the chains in low-shear regions, such as in the middle of the mold, are not as oriented. Figure 6.104 shows the variation in birefringence, as... [Pg.669]

PPO has a high Tm because of the presence of the chain-stiffening 1,4-phen-ylene moiety, which makes up the major portion of the backbone of this polymer (the oxygen atom constitutes the remainder). Because of its very high T this polymer cannot be processed by traditional extrusion or molding techniques. [Pg.200]

Techniques commonly used to manufacture advanced composites from prepregs, which are available in unidirectional fiber or fabric form, include compression molding, vacuum-bag autoclave molding, stamp molding, thermoforming, and on-line (in situ) consolidation [3]. In compression and vacuum-bag autoclave molding techniques, the prepreg is cut to the dimensions of the structure, and the fiber directions are oriented to obtain the required... [Pg.209]

The multilayer film is formed by injection molding, co-injection blow molding, co-injection stretch-blow molding or co-extrusion blow molding techniques. [Pg.59]

Because closer tolerances were reqd the case walls were much smaller than those produced previously, the conventional female bag molding technique could not be applied to the fabrication of felt body cases. It became necessary to design new molds and to modify the fabrication technique... [Pg.205]
