5- Methoxy-2- phenol

2,6-Dinitro-2-hydroxy-naphthalin in 68 bzw. 32%iger Ausbeute. Die Nitrierung von Hetarenen wie Pyrrol oder Indol fuhrt dagegen selbst bei — 78° zu teerartigen Produkten. [Pg.269]

A special type of polymeric antioxidant is anoxomer, which consists of 1,4-benzenediol, 2-(l,l-dimethylethyl)-polymer with diethylbenzene, 4-(l,l-dimethyl-ethyl)phenol, 4-methoxy-phenol, 4,4 -(l-methylethylidene)bis(phenol), and 4-methylphenol prepared by condensation polymerization of divinylbenzene (m- and p-) with tert-butylhydroquinone, tert-butylphenol, hy-droxyanisole, p-cresol, and 4,4 -isopropylidenediphenol. Total monomers, dimers, and trimers below 500 are not more than 1%. Anoxomer is permitted in the United States as an antioxidant in food at a level of not more than 5 ppm of fat and oil content of the food. [Pg.599]

It contains a variable proportion of 3-/m-butyl-4-methoxy-phenol. [Pg.420]

Metal-carbon bonds in some Zn and A1 porphyrins, e.g., N-methyltetra-phenylporphinatozinc ethyl and tetraphenylporphinatoaluminium ethyl, can be activated photochemically and undergo substitution reactions with hindered phenols such as 2,6-di-t-butyl-4-methylphenol and 2,6-di-t-butyl-4-methoxy-phenol. The products are metalloporphyrins having a phenoxy-group bound to Zn or Al. Photoexcitation is thought to increase the electron density of the ethyl group bound to the central metal atom and this brings about an enhanced nucleophilicity of the metal-carbon bond. Other phenols and phenol ethers were examined to assess the breadth of activity of this catalyst. Anisole was selected as an electron rich aromatic system though less so than phenol. A cleaner reaction at lower conversion was expected. Under similar conditions employed for phenol hydroxylation, a 20% conversion of anisole was measured with selectivity to 4-methoxy phenol of 15% and to guiacol of 42%. 1-naphthol was also assessed. No conversion was seen, presumably due to the bulky nature of the molecule. These findings are consistent with a mechanism involving an electrophilic oxidant species. [Pg.50]

Toxicology Exposure is by inhalation. 4-Methoxy phenol is a cytotoxic and a narcotic at high exposures. It is a carcinogen for animals, but no data is available for humans [47]. [Pg.241]

Catalytic activities of biocomposite materials derived from a-ZrP are collected in Table 9 these are comparable to the corresponding activities of the native proteins in aqueous solutions. In some cases they are enhanced for example, the peroxidase activity of bound Mb is greater when 4-methoxy phenol, and other para-substituted phenols were used as substrates (256). This is one of the rare examples where the bound protein had a higher activity. The catalytic data provided later clearly establish the versatility of a-ZrP in providing a benign medium for the incorporation of delicate proteins/enzymes for biocatalytic applications. [Pg.362]
