In another study, the metal-induced self-assembly of other cage stuctures, in which four platinum(II) or palladium(II) ions serve to link two preorganised (identical) cone-shaped precursors via cis nitrile-metal-nitrile bonds, has been reported. [Pg.217]

Therefore, the following method was suggested and realized (the scheme is shown in Fig. 17). A 1.5 M solution of KCl or NaCl (the effect of preventing BR solubility of these salts is practically the same) was used as a subphase. A platinum electrode was placed in the subphase. A flat metal electrode, with an area of about 70% of the open barriered area, was placed about 1.5-2 mm above the subphase surface. A positive potential of +50 -60 V was applied to this electrode with respect to the platinum one. Then BR solution was injected with a syringe into the water subphase in dark conditions. The system was left in the same conditions for electric field-induced self-assembly of the membrane fragments for 1 hour. After this, the monolayer was compressed to 25 mN/m surface pressure and transferred onto the substrate (porous membrane). The residual salt was washed with water. The water was removed with a nitrogen jet. [Pg.162]

Historically, the first multivalent glycoconjugate obtained by metal-assisted self-assembly was described in 1994 by Sakai and Sasaki (Fig. 35).267 The methodology was based on the trimerization of unsymmetrical Bipy-GalNAc (307) induced by the presence of Fe(II) salts, to give the tridentate Fen(bipy-GalNAc)3 cluster 308 as a mixture of four diastereomeric isomers (A-fac, A-fac, A-mer, and A-mer). [Pg.266]

GENERATION OF MESOPOROUS CRYSTALLINE METAL OXIDE FILMS VIA EVAPORATION-INDUCED SELF-ASSEMBLY... [Pg.294]

The tailored design of the titanium-coordinated surfactant and its application in an evaporation-induced self-assembly process followed by heat treatment enabled the preparation of periodic mesoporous silica-based films with a high loading and good dispersion of tetrahedral titanium atoms within the silica matrix. This approach is also feasible for a variety of other transition metal oxides. [Pg.456]

So far as passivated Ag nanoparticles concerns, diere is known a convenient one-pot preparation method (14). Silver salt of carbonic acid such as myristote is heated at about 620 K without any solvent. Pyrolytically reduced Ag atoms then self-assemble to form metal clusters of about 5 nm in diameter, which are surrounded by remaining Ag myristate to form organo-passivated Ag nanoparticles with yield of 70 %. This type of self-organization may be called reaction-induced self-assembly. [Pg.24]
