The court s ruling passes the question of marijuana s medical future to Congress, which would have to rewrite current laws to allow it to be used therapeutically. In response, Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) introduced a bill to reclassify marijuana as a Schedule II drug, which would permit physicians to prescribe it for their patients if state law permitted its use.

Thus, in silico models are by no means self-sufficient. They are irreplaceable for the future progress of bio-medicine. They do not aim, however, to substitute but to improve bio-medical research, which will remain indispensable, not the least for model development and validation.

Thus, the combination of sophisticated sensory devices with advanced micro-manipulation equipment will, together with 3D interactive feedback models, provide new tools and approaches for the medical profession. 

It is the purpose here to briefly review the state of the art of the most important electrochemical methods for medical applications, and report on the status and viability of currently emerging research. To accomplish this, electrochemical methods have been divided into four basic categories. The first two categories (Sect. 2 and 3) represent the relatively mature contribution of electrochemistry to medical diagnostics. Sections four and five deal largely with developments in electrochemistry which have not yet achieved commercialization, but which have the greatest likelihood of future success. There are, of course, some minor areas of research which have been intentionally omitted because of space limitations. Much of this work can be found in the references provided in the text. 

Clearly, it would be difficult at present to predict future development of the field, but the results already obtained leave no doubts that such applications are very promising. A great deal of further work is needed to develop these demonstrations into a practical set of tools for routine use, and the current pace of the progress in the field of non-medical MRI applications leaves no doubts that this goal can be achieved. 

As I look back at this experience, it was an awesome adventure to be alone, during and for an interval of time after this discovery, with the apparatus showing one new effect after another, when there was no one in the Illinois Physics Department experienced in NMR with whom I could talk. Little did the early NMR resonance community realize that the analogue of spin echo hidden memory contained in excited phases of all kinds of states of matter, including plasmas, would be obtained in the future by use of optical laser, electric, and acoustic pulses as well. And now today the use of spin echoes is a standard procedure for magnetic resonance imaging of the human body for medical diagnosis.
