These methods have been well developed in medical technology assessment as well as in other fields of economic research. However, there remain a number of methodological issues that confront investigators in economic evaluations of pharmaceutical therapies. This section reviews some of these issues as they arise in the design, analysis, and interpretation of pharmacoeconomic evaluations.

Medical device design and manufacturing comprises many aspects of science and technology. As techniques and methods have evolved, so has the medical device world, and it is impossible to measure the huge impact that software has had to this field. Speeifically, it would be a really hard task to find any medical device that does not eontain any software system or that has not been designed with the aid of any software tool. Software has become a key factor on the design and manufacturing of medical devices even to the point where a medical device may consist solely of software.
