The determination of quantity in complex mixtures is also vital in health care and medicine. We are all familiar with the medical examinations in which a sample of blood or urine is sent to a laboratory for analysis. The procedures used have been developed by chemists, and are performed by trained chemical technicians. Standard precaution procedures are all that are necessary. However, if the client dies, cremation should be the method of disposal of the body because the body can harbor the spores for decades and pose a threat to mortuary and medical examiner personnel.

NFPA 471, Chapter 10, addresses not only post-entry medical examination requirements, but also requires preentry, during entry, follow-up, and treatment procedures.

Certification Procedures — After January 30, 2012, if a person is a new CLP or CDL applicant and certifies that he/she will operate in non-excepted interstate commerce, he/she must provide the state with the original or a copy of his/her cmrent medical examiner s certificate, completed by a certified medical examiner. 

I If a person is a non-excepted interstate CLP or CDL holder and does not provide the state with a current medical examiner s certificate, the state will post a certification status of not-certified on I his/her CDLIS driver record and will start a CLP or CDL downgrade following state-prescribed procedures.

The ADA specifies when an employer may require an applicant or employee to undergo a medical examination, that is, a procedure or test that seeks information about an individual s physical or mental impairments or health. The ADA also specifies when an employer may make "disability-related inquiries," that is, inquiries that are likely to elicit information about a disability. 

Medical consultation" means a consultation which takes place between an employee and a licensed physician for the purpose of determining what medical examinations or procedures, if any, are appropriate in cases where a significant exposure to a hazardous chemical may have taken place.
