Although there is a common belief that natural herbs do no harm, emergent cases reported that renal failure was associated with chronic use of certain herbal preparations. Another important issue is the interaction between herbs and Western medication. If the medical drug is applied topically to the eye, another important factor for ocular drug delivery and penetration has to be taken in account that is, the precorneal clearance which rapidly reduces the drug amount available for penetration. Thus, it is a major factor to take into consideration while evaluating (transcorneal) absorption. So far, due to experimental limitations, not much thought has been given to precorneal clearance in cell-based in vitro models. 

This book, as is often the case with many others, represents an attempt to express a long overdue need of compiling information which has accumulated over the course of more than 30 years of our work in the area of the synthesis of medical drugs and 7 years of work on the book itself. In our opinion, the result can fill obvious gaps that exist in literature of this kind.

The aim of this review is to consider the types of medications/drug delivery systems that could be developed for administration in battlefield situations, current systems and possible future developments. Just-in-time delivery in an environment like this means that in order to build an order with variety or a new combination of treatments in a medical drug, every component must be in place on time and in good condition, which is a very difficult criterion to satisfy.

The growing interest in these sensors stems from the enormous benefits anticipated from the widespread use of sensors and microprocessors for control. Although microprocessors have been extensively developed, sensors have received relatively little attention. As a result, sensor development is expanding rapidly.
