In addition, restrictions on industrial air emissions under the Clean Air Act (CAA) as amended in 1977, the Clean Air Act Amendments (CAAA) of 1990, and other state and local statutes and regulations have universal impact on the storage of toxic materials, with direct and significant effects on the design and operation of toxic material storage facilities. Whereas the primary factors which once determined how air emissions from storage tanks were handled were fire protection and loss prevention, in recent years environmental protection concerns nearly always determine the extent and nature of the air emission controls required to be installed. 

The technical package may specify a scope and frequency for periodic audits and performance criteria that could lead to changing the audit frequency. It may be a general safety and environmental performance audit or a special audit for items such as raw material storage and handling, quality control methods and documentation. The proprietary nature of a process or product or the complexity of the toll could be a reason to establish a more frequent audit schedule for certain tolls. Audits can also be conducted to follow-up on previously identified shortcomings to document that they were addressed properly.

Non-oxide ceramic nanomaterials, such as carbides, nitrides, borides, phosphides and silicides, have received considerable attention due to their potential applications in electronics, optics, catalysis, and magnetic storage. In contrast with the traditional processes, such as solid state reactions, CVD, MOCVD and PVD, which involve using high temperatures, toxic organometallic precursors, or complicated reactions and posttreatments, solvothermal method is a low temperature route to these materials with controlled shapes and sizes.

Controlled support areas adjacent to critical areas are the essential interfaces in the transition from the general environment to the aseptic processing core. Maintaining tight inventory controls in chemical warehousing is essential to assure compliance with storage arrangement restrictions, such as separation of incompatible materials, storage height, and quantity limits. An up-to-date inventory is also critical information in case of a fire.
