Quantitative data indicate a general increase in the number of clinical trial applications in Australia, Cuba, Estonia, Malaysia and Venezuela for the period 1994-97. Figure 8.11 shows the four-year average number of clinical trial applications received by the relevant authorities in these countries. During this period, the number of clinical trial applications in Australia far exceeded those received in all the other countries combined. The same is also true when the number of applications is computed against the number of new drug applications (Figure 8.12). [Pg.94]

The ISO committee for Rubber and Rubber Products is TC45 with Malaysia holding the secretariat, and plastics is covered by TC61. TC45 normally meets once per year, member countries acting as hosts in a sort of rotation. The delegates to the technical committee are nominated by the relevant committees of the national standard bodies. [Pg.32]

It is now convincing that palm oil products are attractive renewable resources for the production of PHA. In order to ensure sufficient supply of this raw material for large-scale production of PHA, we should first take into account the amount of palm oil products generated in Malaysia every year. The data should include the net balance of global trade (import and export) and existing demand of end users. It was estimated that to produce 5,000 tons of PHA annually, approximately 7,000 tons of soybean oil were required with more than 150 batches of fermentation run (Akiyama et al. 2003). At the moment, this set of simulation is by far the closest and most relevant to the PHA fermentation from palm oil. Over the past decade, the average yield of palm oil on plantations has been measured at 3.8 tons per ha (Murphy 2007). Therefore, in order to produce 1 million tons of PHA, 450,000 ha of oil palm plantation is required. Hence, more lands have to be reclaimed to pave the way for new oil pahn plantation in order to produce more oil. Nevertheless, it has been suggested that the yield of oil could be doubled by... [Pg.52]

Table 11.3 tabulates the settlement performance acceptance of the test drilled shaft against the relevant acceptance criteria. The settlement acceptance criterion at maximum test load was apparently not satisfied for the Singapore PWD (1995) specification. The residual settlement criterion however was not satisfied by both the Singapore and Malaysia PWD specifications except for the AS 2159. [Pg.178]

Most cases of successful secession or dissolution have occurred with the consent of the relevant central authorities (United Arab Republic, Mali Federation, Malaysia-Singapore, Czechoslovakia, Yemen, Eritrea) or in the colonial context. There are hardly any examples of unilateral opposed secession that have remained effective over the long term. As noted above, the case of Bangladesh appears to be truly exceptional given the special role played by India. In that case, elements of state practice did initially reject the result, as evidenced in the records of the UN General Assembly, but this position was not maintained over time. [Pg.70]

The effectiveness of landfills aeration has been tested in various countries around the world both in Europe (Germany, Austria, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland), North America (USA) and Asia (Japan, Malaysia) for more than 20 years. Different technical solutions, which vary primarily in the method of oxygen supply to the landfill, have been used. The selection of a relevant solution depends mainly on the final intention of its application, landfill construction, available financial resources, and legislation. In Europe, aeration is usually applied as a method for an acceleration of old landfill stabilization, commenced when the landfill gas production becomes insufficient for profitable energy recovery. Such an activity shortens the period of the residual gas production. This gas is usually released to the atmosphere because of problems with its combustion. The accelerated stabilization of waste, by a few-week aeration, is also used as the initial phase preeeding of landfill mining. It allows to obtain an evident improvement in sanitary eonditions before the workers will enter. [Pg.45]
