Maintenance obligation

U sing this model Dow was able cut its patent tax maintenance obligations by 40 million and other administrative costs by at least 10 million more over ten years. It abandoned (or donated) patents that were no longer of value to the company. The company was able to capitalise on the revenue potential inherent in the patents and estimated that it increased its annual licensing income from 25 million in 1994 to more than 125 million in 1997. 

Customer supplied products that are issued for incorporation into supplies don t often require maintenance however, items for use in conjunction with the contract may be retained for such a duration that maintenance is necessary. If the products require any maintenance you should be provided with a maintenance specification and the appropriate equipment to do the job. Maintenance may include both preventive and corrective maintenance but you should clarify with your customer which it is. You may have the means for preventive maintenance, such as lubrication and calibration, but not for repairs. Always establish your obligations in the contract regarding customer supplied product, because you could take on commitments for which you are not contractually covered if something should go wrong. You need to establish who will supply the spares and re-certify the equipment following repair.

According to the BMU s draft NAP of 29 January 2004 (BMU 2004), the operator of a plant was obliged to report its closure, if any. A plant closure also meant that within one year the CO2 emission reported by the plant would have to be 10% lower than the average annual emissions in the base period. The protection of health and maintenance of safety constitute a moral obligation shared by everyone. Federal, state, and local laws and regulations make safety a legal requirement and an economic necessity as well. Laboratory safety, therefore, is not a purely voluntary function it requires mandatory safety rules and programs and a commitment to them. A sound safety organization that is respected by all requires the wholehearted participation of laboratory administrators, employees, and students.
