Lubrication pressure

The sleeve bearing has the further advantage that it func tions as a lubricated, pressurized shaft seal to contain the pressure on the process gas (see subsec tion Shaft Seals ). [Pg.2521]

Various protective instruments are used to provide a shutdown signal (to a fast-acting trip valve at the expander inlet) that senses various things, such as overspeed, lubricant pressure, bearing temperature, lubricant temperature, shaft runout, icing, lubricant level, thrustbearing load, and process variables such as sensitive temperatures, levels, pressures, etc. However, too many safety shutdown devices may lead to excessive nuisance shutdowns. [Pg.2524]

Provision must be made in the wiring to maintain power to the standby pump driver. This will prevent power interruption due to the pressure switch contacts opening when lubricant pressure is restored. Cycling of the standby pump will occur if the circuit is not maintained. A reset will have to be furnished to permit shutting down the standby pump when the main pump is back on stream. [Pg.314]

Due to these properties, oligoorganosiloxane oils are especially usable for lubricating mechanisms which operate in veiy low or high (sometimes sharply changing) temperatures, e.g. for ball bearings, automatic distribution valves and stuffing boxes, for lubricating pressure molds in the production of plastic masses, rubber technical articles, metalware, etc. [Pg.467]

Under conditions typical of competitive speedskating, frictional melting, squeeze flow and heat conduction into the ice all play an important role in determining skate blade lubrication. Pressure-induced freezing point depression and the quasi-liquid layer are accounted for in the model, but they play only a minor role in determining the kinetic ice friction coefficient. [Pg.502]

LUBRICATION, PRESSURIZED GAS - A system of lubrication in which a gaseous lubricant is supplied under sufficient external pressure to separate the opposing surfaces by a gas film. [Pg.100]

The main purpose of the pressure head, as a connection element between extmsion barrel and die, is to create uniform inflow conditions over the entire die area. To start with, a universal pressure head was employed for all types of clays and products, but it was quickly discovered that plastic materials required a longer pressure head than lean bodies. Also perforated bricks needed longer pressure heads than solid bricks to allow for ample space between core bow and end auger. Therefore a tripartite pressure head was designed, which made it possible to adjust the correct length of the pressure head, for instance in the event of alternating production of solid bricks and perforated bricks. Also there were lubricated pressure heads and those with a lateral cleaning door. [Pg.111]

The static eccentricity and attitude of the damper ring/bearing housing are monitored by mechanical clock gauges. Lubricant pressure is measured at the inlet to the housing and lubricant temperature is measured as it discharges from the annulus. [Pg.341]

If a potential emergency situation is very serious, the BSD system automatically shuts down or starts up equipment. For example, a pump would be turned off (or tripped) if it overheats or loses lubricant pressure. Similarly, if an exothermic chemical reaction starts to run away, it may be possible to add a quench material that stops the reaction quickly. For some emergency situations, the appropriate response is an automatic startup of equipment, rather than an automatic shutdown. For example, a backup generator or a coohng water pump could be started if the regular unit shuts down unexpectedly. [Pg.173]

Equation (1) relates lubricant film thickness h to the lubricant pressure pf. In a mixed EHL problem asperity contact pressure has to be modeled as well. The present study employs a simplified interactive approach similar to that in Jiang at al. [10]. This approach utilizes a semi-empirical contact pressure-gap relation tabulated with an off-line dry contact... [Pg.837]
