Explosive nature of chemical substances is described with upper and lower explosion limits. The explosiveness of vapour cloud depends especially on the lower explosion limit (LEL). The LEL is the concentration of vapour, at which the vapour cloud is possible to ignite. The wider range between explosion limits means, that it is more probable that the formed vapour cloud is in the flammable region, i.e. the higher tendency for explosion. Edwards and Lawrence (1993) have used explosive limits to determine the explosiveness of chemical substances. 

Instrumentation and methods currently available provide limited means for realtime measurements of the continuous wave (CW) and transient characteristics of luminescent substances. The measurement, in real time, of the spatial distribution of a parameter of interests, for instance, in cells and in tissue cannot be attained with present technology. Optical fibers are used to monitor the response of a sensor in limited regions in space. 

The reproductive/developmental toxicity screening test can provide initial information on possible effects on reproduction and/or development and may make it possible to identify a substance as being toxic to reproduction, i.e., the test gives a clear positive result. However, this test offers only limited means of detecting postnatal manifestations of prenatal exposure or effects that may be induced during postnatal exposure. In addition, because of the study design (e.g., relatively small numbers of animals per dose level, relatively short smdy duration), the test will not provide evidence for definite claims of no effects. 

The probability that 99.7 % of the correct measurement results are expected to lie within the action limits means that only 3 out of 1000 correct measurement results will lie outside this range. Correct means that they belong to the same statistical distribution of data. Therefore the probability is very high that a result that is outside the action range is incorrect. 

As long as care is taken so that effective binary diffusivity obtained from experiments under the same set of conditions is applied to a given problem, the approach works well. Although the limitations mean additional work, because of its simplicity and because of the unavailability of the diffusion matrices, the effective binary diffusion approach is the most often used in geological systems. In this section we will discuss in some detail the relationship between molecular mechanics force field parameters and real physical parameters. As mentioned before, the fundamental difference between spectroscopic and molecular mechanics force fields is that the former are molecule-specific while the latter are general. Empirical force field parameters can be used for the calculation of unknown structures and their strain energies, and for the prediction of vibrational frequencies of new compounds. However, the parameters themselves generally have limited meaning.
