Life-cycle assessment practical applications

The application of waste-management practices in the United States has recently moved toward securing a new pollution prevention ethic. The performance of pollution prevention assessments and their subsequent implementation will encourage increased activity into methods that 1 further aid in the reduction of hazardous wastes. One of the most important and propitious consequences of the pollution-prevention movement will be the development of life-cycle design and standardized hfe-cycle cost-accounting procedures. These two consequences are briefly discussed in the two paragraphs that follow. Additional information is provided in a later subsection. 

A checklist analysis (CCPS, 1992) verifies the status of a system. It is versatile, easy and applicable at any life-cycle stage of a process. The enterprise shall maintain a self-assessment program to determine the maturity of its systems engineering practices to include the application of the SEP tasks of Clause 6. The raiterprise applies insights gained during self-assessment toward improving products, life cycle processes, and enterprise systems engineering practices. 

Life cycle-based assessment practices have been proposed as a means for helping to identify and manage unique EHS issues occurring throughout the product life cycle—from research and development, through production, commercial application, and ultimately to disposal.
