The second way to classify supply chain projects recognizes that improvements move beyond the department or the business unit into the extended enterprise. In an earlier article by Jim Ayers, Craig Gustin, and Scott Stephens, we envisioned three stages for supply chain reengineering efforts. The neady symmetrical composition of SBI-PC (T = 230° C) makes birefringence disappear iu homopolymers, but the material becomes very britde due to the blocking of the free rotation of the aromatic rings, which puts its technical appHcation iu question. Only a copolymerization with 80 wt BPA-PC reaches sufficient levels of impact resistance but T is lowered to 170°C and birefringence iucreases to 80% of that of BPA-PC (195,196). In contrast, TMC-PC as a homopolymer already has sufficient impact resistance at a T of 238°C and a birefringence of 83% of that of BPA-PC (195,205) (Table 7). [Pg.159]

Vanillin would appear, like many of the animal notes, to act as a trigger to our awareness of smell. Recycled PVC supermarket trays have been used successfully in production-scale trials to make the foamed layer in coextruded cladding. The extruded product had satisfactory foam density, foam structure and colour. Impact properties were better than those of the control made from virgin PVC this is attributed to the high levels of impact modifier used in tray formulations. These trials demonstrated that PVC straight-on trays can be recycled into foamed extrusions for wood replacement products. 8 refs. [Pg.141]

Oriented polystyrene (OPS) is widely used for many packaging applications, including deli and bakery packaging. The biaxial orientation of the crystal polystyrene provides a significant improvement in impact strength and makes a very rigid material. Even with the enhancement of impact resistance, usually some level of impact modifier is required. SBCs are an excellent modifier for OPS.
