Leishmania enriettii

Few studies have been conducted to date evaluating the effects of Pb exposure on host resistance to parasitic diseases, although one study examined the effect of Pb on the ability of mouse macrophages to kill Leishmania enriettii parasites in vitro [87], The authors found that 30-100 pM Pb acetate interfered with the killing ability of macrophages without producing macrophage cytotoxicity.

Peritoneal macrophages were parasitized with H-thymidine-labeled Leishmania enriettii promastigotes, followed by activation with EP-AG. The macrophages were lysed and the number of released viable parasites was quantified [7] (Tab. 4). 

Weak oncolytic activity has been reported from pentane extracts against Walker carcinoma 256 and P-388 lymphocytic leukemia, but not lymphoid leukemia.
