MK indicates that his stools have been foul-smelling. [Pg.1140]

Camosine (400 mg/day) together with omega-3-fatty acids (eicosa-pentaenonic acid) was employed in a study of dietary effects on dyslexic children. In this study there were no significant effects of the dietary supplements on a range of language skills and behavior problems (Kairaluoma et al., 2008). [Pg.130]

In our roles as educators, we have noticed that there is little guidance for therapists interested in answering the questions above. Instead, most students are busy learning the language, skills, and paradigm of their own discipline. To collaborate successfully with physicians, including psychiatric physicians, most therapists will have to relinquish some ideas they learned in training and embrace new ideas and skills. However, many skills that therapists already possess in their work with patients can be transferred to their collaborative work with other professionals. This chapter identifies the essential skills for collaboration (McDaniel, Hepworth, Doherty, 1992 Seaburn et al., 1996). [Pg.236]

Industrial workers often complain of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, headache, sweating, and a metallic taste in the mouth. It is useful if the supplier has nominated a representative to host the audit, ideally someone who has been trained in auditing and therefore can understand and anticipate the auditor s perspective. Training courses are available, for instance, along the lines of industry auditing standards like ISO 10011. Good interpersonal and language skills are often beneficial, too, especially where the audit is not conducted in the participants mother tongue. [Pg.165]

The most common treatment is to remove galactose (and lactose) from the diet. The enigma of galactosemia is that, although elimination of galactose from the diet prevents liver disease and cataract development, the majority of patients still suffer from central nervous system malfunction, most commonly a delayed acquisition of language skills. Females will also display ovarian failure. [Pg.657]

More focused neuropsychological batteries have been developed for this purpose, such as those listed in Table 41.2. The HTV Denienda Scale is also a useful tool and only takes five minutes to administer and score (Power et al., 1995). It is important to remember that interpretation of neuropsychological tests also requires attention to patient demographics such as language skills, presence of comorbid conditions, substance abuse, and concomitant use of psychotropic medications. [Pg.607]
