The classification into different types of human hyperlipopro-teinaemias was the main argument of a Course which was held, last year, in this same Institute and before that in Milan (47). It is performed in our country by the Italian Society of Atherosclerosis Studies, and its President, Prof. Paoletti. The typing permits the differential diagnosis of the various forms on a genetic basis, it gives the possibility of identifying other alterations which may induce atherosclerosis and to identify action mechanisms, and allows adequate and specific treatments. We cannot, today, be satisfied with overall solutions. [Pg.182]

The papers in the present volume were presented on November 1st-3rd, 1973, in Rome on the occasion of an International Postgraduate Course sponsored by the Italian Society for the Study of Atherosclerosis, the Istituto Superiore di Sanita, and the Fondazione Giovanni Lorenzini,... [Pg.260]

After the success of the two previous meetings on Typing of Hyperlipoproteinemias, in Milan in 1971 and in Rome in 1972, an important part of each of which was devoted to the discussion of therapy, the Italian Society for the Study of Atherosclerosis, the Istituto Superiore di Sanita, and the Fondazione Giovanni Lorenzini planned a special treatment of this important topic This meeting was held in Rome in November 1973 at the Istituto Superiore di Sanita. On this occasion the most important subjects developed in recent years by the most qualified centers of experimental and clinical research were reported. [Pg.262]

A historical novel based on the life of the very real Italian occultist, 1743-1795, who was a self-styled mystic, healer, leader of an exotic brand of Freemasonry was arrested for heresy in 1791 on the order of Pope Pius VI and spent the last five years of his life in prison. To answer this question satisfactorily would require several more monographic studies concerning orphan care in Western European lands because the medieval civilization of Italy and the rest of Latin (Catholic) Europe lacked the cultural unity of the Byzantine world. The society of Anglo-Saxon Wessex differed radically from that of the Lombard towns in Italy. Even within the Italian peninsula, Venice had a far different social, political, and economic structure than did its rival... [Pg.283]
