Iron acrylic compound

Alksne and Smith described the novel use of an iron acrylic compound for the stereotaxic thrombosis of intracranial aneurysms in patients who were poor risk candidates for surgery. The compound polymerized rapidly, did not fragment and was non-toxic. Good results were reported in experimental animals and humans. [Pg.322]

Acrylics, unsaturated polyesters and other monomer-based adhesives containing ethy-lenic unsaturation, cure by formation of free peroxide radicals formed with transition metal ion donators such as cobalt, iron, copper and nickel. In engineering applications the presence of transition metals on surfaces sees them act as initiators by forming the free peroxide radicals from the added peroxide compound(s). The base monomers usually contain inhibitors such as phenols or other materials classed as peroxide stabilisers to... [Pg.163]

SULFICYLBIS (METHANE) (67-68-5) CjHjOS (CH3)2S0 Combustible liquid [explosion limits in air (vol %) 2.6 to 63.0 flashpoint 203°F/95°C oc autoignition temp 419°F/215°C Fire Rating 2]. Violent or explosive reaction with strong oxidizers, acryl halides, aryl halides and related compounds, alkali metals p-bromobenzoyl acetanilide, boron compounds, especially hydrides iodine pentafluoride, magnesium perchlorate, methyl bromide, perchloric acid, periodic acid, silver fluoride, sodium hydride, potassium permanganate. Forms powerfully explosive mixtures with metal salts of oxoacids [iron(III)nitrate, phosphonic acid, sodium perchlorate]. On small fires, use dry chemicals or COj extinguishers. [Pg.973]

Emulsions of polyvinyl acetate and polyalkyl acrylates have been used as tub caulking compositions, spackling compounds and as building sealants.22 Acrylic sealants which harden in the presence of powdered iron or copper meet Federal Specifications TT-S-00230C. 27 Liquid monomers, such as polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate and butyl alpha—cyanoacrylate have been used as room temperature curing sealants.22 22. [Pg.102]

The more polar substituted ethylenes are less prone to dimerization. Nevertheless, acrylonitrile and acrylates have been dimerized with iron ruthenium and rhodium compounds, although in some cases in a non-catalytic fashion and with poor yields. The products have the polar groups generally in 1,4-position although the a mode of insertion is electronically favored for these substrate (Table 4). Presumably the intermediate I (see Scheme 1) is not able to insert a second substrate molecule, because of the repulsion of the polar groups. This repulsion is somewhat... [Pg.124]
