A third area of concern involves interpersonal conflict, usually with a partner, children, or other family members. Relationship stress makes overcoming a drug problem much more difficult, but not impossible. Arguments and other forms of conflict do place the client at risk, however, if she or he has not prepared for how to respond effectively to such situations ahead of time. Other types of relationships, such as with employers or colleagues, also can generate stress that can begin a chain of risky events for the client, so these types of social relationships should not be ignored in a relapse prevention plan. [Pg.263]

The DSM-IV diagnostic criteria for PTSD (cf. Table 5.10) requires that the patient has been exposed to a traumatic stressor. In this context, the concept of traumatic stress is specifically defined as an event involving actual or threatened death or serious injury, or a threat to physical integrity. Such traumatic events include sexual abuse (e.g., rape, molestation), life-threatening accidents, interpersonal violence, natural disasters, and combat. [Pg.167]

Women s Hospital conducted a study designed to measure the effect of a single pharmacist s participation on medical rounds on the rate of preventable adverse drug events in an intensive care unitJ The participation of an experienced BCPS was associated with a 66% reduction in preventable adverse drug events and approximately 270,000 in annual cost savings to the hospital. The BCPS was accepted as a member of the multidisciplinary team, and the researchers noted that mutual cooperation and positive interpersonal relationships between the pharmacy and medical staff were vital criteria for successful pharmacist interventions. [Pg.734]

Research indicates that those individuals who suffer extreme and chronic noxious interpersonal experiences in childhood (and who are therefore more likely to develop more extreme and rigid maladaptive core schemas) are more likely to experience PTSD as the result of a traumatic work event (e.g. Brewin et al. 2000 Davidson et al. 1991 Follette et al. 1996 Paris 2000 Stallard and Law 1993). [Pg.205]

The master files of a LIMS contain the knowledge which had previously been only in the heads of the laboratory staff.
