International legal requirements

Before marketing a new product, the manufacturer, for both xoduct liability reasons and in wder to meet various national and international legal requirements, has to establish not only the efficiency of the product to perform as required but also its hazardous properties, to ensure it can be used safely. 

Companies must ensure that all relevant personnel are appropriately trained in the requirements of the Code and have strict internal procedures under which all promotional material and activities are reviewed to ensure compliance with the Code and the appropriate legal requirements. The Code reflects and extends well beyond the legal requirements controlling the advertising of medicines. 

Similar arguments apply when considering a result against a limit. The limit may be a legal requirement that must be achieved or not exceeded, or it may be an internal specification. The risks of noncompliance might require evidence that the probability the test item does not comply is very small and insignificant ( positive compliance, line a in figure 7.4) or, alternatively,... 

Many users are concerned about the maintenance frequency of their SRVs installed base. Many major companies have their own internal procedures or are following codes and recommendations. However, there are no strict legal requirements that touch on maintenance frequency of SRVs. Once in some boiler installations in the past, it was a rule, or better a habit, for the firemen to pop the valves daily or weekly by means of the lifting lever, an unenviable job as it was extremely dangerous for the personnel and also not very good for the valve itself. It also required a minimum operating pressure of 75% of set pressure, usually of very hot steam, something you do not want to be very close to. This procedure also led to a lot of accidents and so is not used very frequently anymore. Other companies only tested and maintained their valves after an accident or major pressure upset, and all the rest was/is between both these extremes.

Quality Raw Material" is an expression that has to be defined by the individual user of a raw material, for specific production processes and for the production objectives, i.e. for every product. The "quality", i.e. the required physical/chemical parameters of a raw material vary and are product specific however if it comes to product safety, there is no room for interpretation. Step 10. For shipments outside of the United States, in addition to the above requirements, the Market Rep. must notify International Operations and comply with Import/Export procedures.
