To understand the goals of the particular contributions and to compare the different approaches of diagnosis, the IFAC (i.e., International Federation on Automatic Control) Technical Committee SAFEPROCESS (Fault Detection, Supervision and Safety for Technical Processes) has defined a common terminology.
