Internal cooling channels

The aspect of the position tolerance of the internal cooling channels that gains in importance especially in extra-long twist drills is taken up by a search strategy to find a robust position that is unsusceptible to deviations in order to reduce the risk of tool failure. Thus, all important properties of the twist drill are optimized with respect of certain restrictions. In the following the overall concept and one exemplarily fitness function are presented. [Pg.1264]

Direct Tooling Mold inserts, which may also contain internal cooling channels, are made with 3D printing processes. The bronze infiltration leads to a higher thermal conductivity, which may be advantageous if the tendency to worse mechanical-technological properties is accepted. [Pg.622]

Reduce the lower and upper platen temperatures by engaging the platen cooling circuit to move water through internal cooling channels. [Pg.298]

The micro bubble column comprises internal cooling via heat conduction from the reaction zone to a mini channel heat exchanger [3, 9, 10], Either two such heat exchange plates can encompass the reaction plate, or only one. In the latter case, the free position is occupied by an inspection window which allows direct observation of the quality of the flow patterns. [Pg.583]

Large amounts of energy are consumed during the mixing process and this gives rise to large temperature rises in the rubber batch. Internal mixers therefore have cooling channels in the chamber walls, rotors, and sometimes the ram head, to dissipate this heat. The inlet water temperature is controlled in most modem machines, but in many companies this is still not the case. [Pg.192]

The right picture illustrates the cooling-water channel designed for higher pressure in order to reduce the wall thickness. Mold cooling is typically provided by water channels in the mold, when metal molds are used. A system of fans blowing air over the top of the mold can aid in cooling, and this can be used alone for wood or plastic molds, which do not generally contain internal cooling. [Pg.283]

The milling cutter for HPC of Ti alloys is equipped with cooling channels through the body and the inserts to enable coolant flow at pressures of p = 20-70 bar very close to the cutting edge. The internal coolant supply during the milling process improved heat transportation and chip flow from the process zone and doubled the tool life. [Pg.653]

Tray columns (also called plate columns) are particularly well suited for large installations clean, noncorrosive, nonfoaming liquids and low-to-medium liquid flow rate applications. They also are preferred when internal cooling is required in the coluitui. With appropriate tray d ign, cooling coils can be installed on individual trays, or alternatively, liquid can be removed from the column at one tray, cooled, and returned to another tray. Tray columns also are advantageous for separations that require a large number of transfer units because they are not subject to channeling of vapor and liquid streams winch can cause problems in tall packed columns. [Pg.343]

For the internal thermal management concept with forced convection in separate cooling channels, the bipolar plates are split into two half-shells. The cooling channels can either be integrated into the bipolar plate material on the back side of one of the half-shells or within separate cooling cells. Both methods allow the usage of different heat transfer media. [Pg.451]

Components of virtually any complexity, especially those with undercuts and internal cavities (Figure 4.131), can be manufactured. This property usually is not important for cavities, because the component must be able to be removed from the mold. But it is the basis for an optimized internal structure, for example, for contour-adapted cooling channels (see Fig 1.290, surface cooling, in Section 1.11.2.5). [Pg.609]

Standard parts. Figure 4.149 shows a so-called adjustable or cooling pin with an internal helical cooling channel. [Pg.627]

A reactor with vertically-upward flowing core coolant, unconstrained by internal flow channels within the core, has relatively stable hydraulics. Employing a vertical core ensures a potential to initiate and continue buoyancy-driven natural circulation. An upward normal core coolant flow direction avoids any concern of momentary core flow stagnation during transition from forced-convection to natural-circulation core cooling. A safety margin penalty is incurred with upward... [Pg.94]
