Integral molds

In many instances the friction material mix is integrally molded into holes within the backing plate or shoe. Painting of the final assembly, less common in North America, is the rule in Europe and Asia. For controlling brake squeal, noise insulators are widely used. These noise insulating layers are bonded or mechanically attached to the back side of the friction material backing plate. [Pg.275]

The molded liners for the inlet head, cylinder section, and conical sections have Integral molded gaskets for sealing at the flanged joints. Molded liners and vulcanized linings are offered in gum rubber, polyurethane, nitrile rubber, butyl. Neoprene , Viton , Hypalon , and other liner materials can be supplied. [Pg.266]

The Williamson/Kontes Hirsch funnel is unique. It is made of polypropylene and has an integral molded stopper that fits the 25-mL filter flask. It comes fitted with a 20-micron polyethylene fritted disk, which is not meant to be disposable (Fig. 7). While products can be collected directly on this... [Pg.35]

Based on almost the same theory as that of laminated board production, metal-siding board can be manufactured. In metal-siding board steel or aluminum plate is formed to profiled shapes in advance, and phenolic foam and incombustible paper are molded by an integral molding method. This method is widely used in Japan and Korea to produce exterior materials for wooden houses. An example of such material for wooden houses is shown in Figure 68. [Pg.216]

In the integral molding process for fabricating disk pads, the preforms or loose mix is molded onto a shoe... [Pg.1080]

Silica furnace containing integrally molded heating elements used for digestions and ashing... [Pg.24]

The ashing step is performed in a silica oven containing integrally molded heating elements, further minimizing the risk of contamination. [Pg.123]

Muffle furnace, silica lined, containing integrally molded heating elements and capable of maintaining a temperature of 525°C (model 51828 Moldatherm Furnace, Lindberg). [Pg.128]

The MCU-2/P Chemical-Biological Mask is used by U.S. Air Force ground crews and aircrews when not in flight. This protective mask is constructed of molded silicone rubber facepiece material, and an integral, molded, polyurethane, one-piece panoramic lens is bonded to it (Figure 16-9). [Pg.368]

BP Chemicals have developed a polyurethane (PU) system for the production of integrally-molded sand-insulated carpets. The carpet is laminated with a PU backing to improve shape retention. It is then placed in a mold and PU foam is injected to fill the space between the car floor contours and the carpet. A carpet made with the system has been in use in the Fiat Turbo Uno. [Pg.771]

Objective Strong, lightweight, and moldable materials for automotive structural trim and supports, allowing Integrated, molded-m features. [Pg.133]

Integral-molded children s car seats feature handles for manual carrying. The entire seat construction is made of a thermoplastic material (PP or ABS). The opportunities and risks of standard plastic injection-molding vs. the gas injection technique (GIT) are explained using the example of the child s seat handle. [Pg.322]

The major difference between rubber joints and metal bellows is in the way they absorb pressure loads. Circumferential loads (hoop stress) due to pressure are carried by the folds themselves in a metal bellows. In a rubber expansion joint, the convolution is incapable of resisting pressure by itself, but is supported by the adjacent tube with its internal fabric or fabric reinforcement or by the adjacent flanges. Expansion joints have integrally molded flanges, which are drilled to match standard pipe flanges. AU expansion joints require metallic retainer rings behind the flanges as back up. [Pg.72]

An integral mold comes equipped with its own pot and plunger (Fig. 10.18) and can be designed for manual or semiautomatic operation. The self-contain-ment feature increases the efficiency of the mold because the design of the material transfer pot can be optimized with respect to specific cavity. The pot could be located above or below the mold. The molten plastic may flow through a sprue-runner-gate to enter the mold or the sprue can be placed inside the cavity, as is the case in the mold shown in Fig. 10.18. [Pg.285]
