This big increase in speed has not been without cost. The everyday machine codes and high-level languages (Fortran, Pascal, C, etc.) used to control operations in a standard computer are inappropriate for parallel processing, which needs its own instruction set and has led to the development of special languages for use with the transputer. [Pg.314]

The transputer s advantage in speed relative to common computer operations has also been boosted by reducing the number of basic instruction sets available to the programmer. This aspect is discussed next. [Pg.314]

Algorithm, recognition Computer programs or instruction sets for the recognition of specific phenomena from a processing of data acquired for the system from some external source. [Pg.631]

Spirit writings to Mark Prophet. ""The instruction set forth. .. was given to Mark L. Prophet by the Ascended Master Saint Germain."... [Pg.180]

Follow the lyophilization instructions set loading temperature, chamber pressure, and duration of vacuum and record all required documentation on the MFM. [Pg.916]

Alles [Alles, 1977] further expands on the 4B oscillator module by describing the design of a matching filter and reverb module using the TRW multiplier. A separate switch module allows for the arbitrary interconnection of the functional units. The switch itself was a small processor with a simple instruction set. [Pg.123]

The Zoran 38000 has an internal data path of 20 bits as well as a 20 bit address bus. The two accumulators have 48 bits. It can perform a Dolby AC-3 [Vernon, 1995] five channel decoder in real time, although the memory space is also limited to one Megaword. It has a small (16 instruction) loop buffer as well as a single instruction repeat. The instruction set has support for block floating point as well as providing simultaneous add and subtract for FFT butterfly computation. [Pg.411]

Other manufacturers have introduced 16 bit fixed point processors. IBM s Mwave is supposed to be for Multimedia operations but can only address 32K (15 bits) of data memory. The product register is also only 32 bits (data is assumed to be fractional form of only 15 bits) so constant rescaling is necessary. Perhaps its most noteworthy addition is the wide use of saturation arithmetic in the instruction set and the large number of DMA channels. [Pg.411]

Motorola introduced the 96002 [Sohie and Kloker, 1988] as an extension to the existing 56000 architecture. The instruction set is an extension of the 56000 instructions, adding floating point instructions and implementing the IEEE 754 floating point standard directly instead of converting to an internal format (like the DSP-32). It has two parallel ports for multiprocessing. [Pg.412]

ARM Thumb processor is an example of a commercial processor with code compression [Atm 99]. The Thumb instruction set is a subset drawn from the ARM instruction set. All Thumb instructions are 16-bit long. Upon execution, the 16-bit Thumb instructions are decompressed into their 32-bit ARM equivalents in real time. The transition to the Thumb instruction set reduces the code size typically by 30 percent [Fur 00]. An additional advantage is the power-efficient access to the external memory. A disadvantage of the Thumb instruction set is a certain decline in performance due to the increased number of instructions. [Pg.186]

HTML The HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language. It is the native language of the Web. The HTML is like a text/typing instruction set documents written in HTML are interpretable by browsers. Web pages written in HTML when browsed through browsers will take their final form as the pages seen on screen. Hypertext, a form of electronic cross-reference, also makes information interactive and links Web documents. The reader may jump from topic to topic unhindered by geography. Browsers do not support all HTML codes the same way, and some browsers do not support certain HTML codes. [Pg.513]

The first action of the secondary monitor will be to print the que "SCOPE, PLOTTER MONITOR, DESCRIPTION AND INSTRUCTION SET —YES OR NO ", as shown in figure 10. When the response is "NO" it will go directly to the next query "SCOPE, PLOTTER, OR EXIT—S,P, OR E "... [Pg.150]

Synthesize the following using the instructions set forth at ti c beginning of the worked syntheses section. [Pg.12]
