Renewable Fuels Association (2012) Ethanol Industry Outlook Accelerating Industry Innovation, Renewable Fuels Association, Washington, DC. [Pg.178]

Preparation, characterization, and fabrication of nanostructured materials have elicited great interest in view of their possibility of innovation in science, industry, environment, and in our daily lives in the twenty-first century. The research field called nanoscience or nanotechnology has been expanded and widespread since the end of the last century, and the trend is expected to be wider and accelerated in this and in the next decade. Current interest in the nanostructured materials predominantly comes from their unique physicochemical properties on account of their finite small sizes giving peculiar effects such as... [Pg.566]

This workshop focused on factors such as work processes, systems, and technologies that could enable and accelerate the pace of innovation and increase the yield of major innovations from work in the basic chemical sciences. More specifically, speakers identified teamwork, commitment, standardized portfolio management, clear goals, well-defined milestones, and effective technology transfer as some of the characteristics of innovative institutions and practices. Successful approaches to innovation have taken place in different environments and between different environments—despite infrastmcture and cultural differences, both interdisciplinary collaborations and collaborations between industry and academia have proven beneficial for all parties. Funding must also be available to promote innovation at stages of research often ignored. [Pg.1]

Violations of state laws and rules which result in groundwater contamination must be prosecuted by traditional methods. However, to accelerate protection programs, some innovative cost incentives are needed. When the informed public and affected industries are active participants in the decision-making process, the law is more strictly adhered to. [Pg.494]
