Individualized approaches

Questions of the analytic control of maintenance of the bivalent metals cations to their joint presence in materials of diverse fixing always were actual. A simultaneous presence in their composition of two cations with like descriptions makes analysis by sufficiently complicated process. Determination of composition still more complicates, if analyzed object is a solid solution, in which side by side with pair of cations (for example, Mg " -Co ", Mn -Co, Zn -Co ) attends diphosphate anion. Their analysis demands for individual approach to working of methods using to each concrete cations pair. 

Virtually every reference at the end of this chapter is to post-war publications, and the majority are to papers published during the past 15 years. This shows, clearly enough, that extreme materials are recent features of materials science and engineering (MSE), and there is every indication that the focus on materials of the kind discussed in this chapter will continue to develop. Individual approaches come and go - thus, rapid solidification processing, the oldest of the approaches discussed here, seems to have passed its apogee - while others go from strength to strength ...

The study on the landfill leachate, shown here as an example application of the method, has demonstrated how information derived from individual approaches provides a valuable support to one another. 

An individualized approach to treatment is necessary (Fig. 2-1). For mild or moderate pain, topical analgesics or acetaminophen can be used. If these measures fail or if there is inflammation, nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may be useful. Appropriate nondrug therapies should be continued when drug therapy is initiated. 

PN regimens for infants and children typically require an individualized approach, which is highly variable among institutions. 

Manufacturers of organic pigments frequently use additives in an attempt to improve parameters such as the wetting time and wetting volume and thus to enhance the dispersibility of their products. The decision about each individual approach is usually made on the basis of empirical data concerning the application properties of the products. This is understandable in view of the fact that the dispersibility of a pigment is known to depend on its medium and on the conditions under which it is applied, a problem that is so complex that it is solved best by carrying out a series of pilot scale experiments in different vehicles. 

The interdependence of chemical constitution and the spatial arrangement of atoms in molecules suggests the simultaneous treatment of constitutional and stereochemical problems. Traditional separation of these latter aspects is more than likely due to the fact that the concepts and methodology of the two chemical disciplines differ enough to justify individual approaches.

The collection and preparation of water samples requires individual approaches for different analytical tasks. If heavy metals or long-lived radionuclides at the trace and ultratrace concentration range are to be determined in water samples by ICP-MS, especially careful sampling is necessary to avoid possible contamination (using clean bottles and containers washed and cleaned before use, for example, with 2 % nitric acid and high purity water to stabilize traces in the samples), and the loss of analyte by adsorption effects or precipitation should be also considered. 

As we noted at the beginning of this book, the concept of hardness can be understood and defined in very different ways, and the later parts of the book have shown that according to the measurement method used, the results should be variously interpreted, if quantitatively and qualitatively comparable data are available. Day-to-day practice enforces an individual approach to hardness measurements in laboratories. 

Since it will take several years to realize such an integral software toolbox, individual approaches with separate steps have to be applied to meet gradually the requirements of microreactor design. Standard software for computational fluid dynamics is directly applicable in this context, and there are also powerful software tools for the simulation of special steps in microfabrication processes. However, there has been rather little experience with materials for microreactors, optimization of microreactor design, and, in particular, the treatment of interdependent effects. Consequently, a profound knowledge of the basic properties and phenomena of microreaction technology just described is absolutely essential for the successful design of microreaction devices. 

To achieve the sustainable continuous improvements of truly lean operations, companies need to execute holistic programs. They have to give their organizations clear visions for operational excellence and the ability to identify and execute on situation-specific targets, but also individual approaches to address the soft side of change - capability building and changes in mindsets and behaviors. The journey is difficult, but the rewards are still fast and very considerable. 

Should all people with diabetes receive a statin The answer is an emphatic yes in those who already have CHD, stroke, or peripheral arterial disease. Guidelines differ on whether all those with diabetes but no clinical vascular disease should also be treated. The development of new technologies within functional (and structural) genomics is considered to be an indispensable factor in the development of personalized medicine, which is based on individual approach to a patient. It is assumed that determining an individual genetic profile of a patient will enable safe and efficacious treatment. 

In the case of individual structures, a reconstruction matrix can receive new information only from its individual memory matrix, but in the case of multicellular structures there is also another option. Here it is possible to build a collective memory matrix, and this allows us to choose between two different reconstruction strategies. We can continue to adopt an individual approach, where each cell gets new information only from its individual memory matrix (Figure 7.6A), but we can also adopt an approach where,/row a certain point onwards, a cell can also receive new information from the collective memory of the system (Figure 7.6B).

Other books, similarly written at the undergraduate or first-year postgraduate level, are now appearing. These supplement the several bachelor degree or equivalent courses offered by the various educational establishments, and each of the texts listed below has an individual approach to the subject, which may be more or less acceptable to a particular course or reader (A14—20). 

Obviously, a combination of the different methods described above that takes advantage of each individual approach can be used. Lee et al. [20] proposed to combine the build-up procedure and genetic algorithms.
