Medline. The Medline data base, which comes from the National Library of Medicine, is a superb, indispensable reference library that is particularly strong in its wide coverage of research activities in the biomedical literature. It also encompasses the areas of clinical medicine, health policy, and health care services. Each year, over 300,000 articles are reviewed and indexed into the data base. The full bibliographic citations of these articles, usually including the abstract of the published work, are available from numerous vendors in CD-ROM format and are usually updated on a monthly basis. [Pg.108]

Enables student with working knowledge of elementary mathematical physics to develop facility in use of quantum mechanics, understand published work in field. Formulates quantum mechanics in terms of Schrocdinger s wave mechanics. Studies evidence for quantum theory, for inadequacy of classical mechanics, 2 postulates of quantum mechanics numerous important, fruitful applications of quantum mechanics in spectroscopy, collision problems, electrons in solids other topics. One of the most rewarding features. .. is the interlacing of problems with text," Amer.. of Physics. Corrected edition. 21 illus. Index. 296pp. 5 x 8. Paperbound 2.00... [Pg.288]

There has been little or no published work on the melt rheology of PHB, presumably because of problems associated with its melt instability. However, some information on melt viscosity can be derived from melt flow index data such as that given in Fig. 9, using the empirical relationship ... [Pg.24]

It has also been observed that the refractive index of the PVC-TCP system goes through a maximum as the TCP content increases [61]. This has been attributed to an increase in the density of the material due to a more compact organization of polymer chains that occurs on the addition of a small amount of plasticizer, and X-ray diffraction has shown the formation of crystalline zones [61,62]. This explanation has been questioned by others who propose that the observed fragility is due to solvation by the plasticizer [63]. The solvated macromolecules become unfolded and extended and can no longer support a high impact stress. However, the first hypothesis has also been supported by other published work [64,65]. [Pg.27]

Working with different samples of the same polymer, other researchers have published conflicting values for the refractive index gradient in these solvents ... [Pg.717]

With the publication of Vol. 51 we should also like to refer to editorial policy this series publishes invited, critical review articles of new developments in all areas of Polymer Science in English (authors may naturally also include works of their own). The responsible editor, that means the editor who has invited the article, discusses the scope of the review with the author on the basis of a tentative outline which the author is asked to provide. Author and editor are responsible for the scientific quality of the contribution the editor s name appears at the end of it. Manuscripts must be submitted, in content, language and form satisfactory, to Springer-Verlag. Figures and formulas should be reproducible. To meet readers wishes, the publisher adds to each volume a volume index which approximately characterizes the content. [Pg.228]

Registry Numbers. Annual supplements, with cumulative indexes, have appeared since 1983. A similar work, devoted to organometallic compounds, is the 2nd edition of the Dictionary of Organometallic Compounds , 6 vols. in its 5th supplement, published by Chapman and Hall in 1989. Another, Dictionary of Steroids , 2 vols., 1991, is also published by Chapman and Hall. [Pg.1617]

The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), besides publishing Current Contents (p. 1611) and the Science Citation Index (p. 1637), also publishes Index Chemicus (formerly called Current Abstracts of Chemistry and Index Chemicus). This publication, begun in 1960 and appearing weekly, is devoted to printing structural formulas of all new compounds appearing in more than 100 journals, along with equations to show how they were synthesized and an author s summary of the work. Each issue contains five indexes author. [Pg.1622]

Lacinio, Giano. The new pearl of great price a treatise concerning the treasure and most precious stone of the philosophers Or the method and procedure of this divine art with observations drawn from the works of Arnoldus, Raymondus, Rhasis, Albertus, and Michael Scotus, first published by Janus Lacinius, the Calabrian, with a copious index. rhttp //www.ebrary.com1. [Pg.190]

The author thanks the General Electric Research and Development Center for permission to publish this work and thanks Mr. S. T. Rice for many of the yellowness index and UV spectral measurements. Mr. William Delaware of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is also thanked for his data. [Pg.105]

This third edition of Beilstein is seriously out of date, i.e. it contains only a small proportion of the organic compounds known to-day. Unfortunately, the almost completed fourth edition also only covers the literature to January 1, 1910. Of the twenty-five volumes which are likely to be necessary, twenty-three had appeared by June 1936. Of the supplementary volumes covering the literature from the year 1910 to 1920, twenty-two volumes have been published. Each volume of the whole work contains an index of substances. [Pg.421]
