Finkle et al. (46) have established a GC/MS reference data system for the identification of drugs of abuse. The data include phenethylamine derivatives, opiate and synthetic narcotics, barbiturates, and urinary metabolites. These data have been established for use with the gas chromatographic retention time index previously developed. [Pg.549]

It is a mobile, narcotic, flammable liquid whose over-exposure irritates eyes and upper respiratory system (Merck Index). It has a sweet-ethereal, fruity taste in water (Arctander, 1967). An odor threshold of 17 ppm in water was given by Mulders (1973b). [Pg.170]

USE Determining refractive index of minerals filling for thermometers instead of mercury, usually with a blue or red dye. Caution May be irritating to respiratory tract and, in high conens, narcotic. [Pg.741]

MC principally affects the CNS, where it acts as a narcotic. The obsen/ation of the symptoms characteristic of CNS depression, along with a physical examination, provides the best detection of early neurological disorders. Since exposure to MC also increases the carboxyhemo-globin level in the blood, ambient carbon monoxide levels would have an additive effect on that carboxyhemoglobin level. Based on such information, a periodic post-shift carboxyhemoglobin test as an index of the presence of carbon monoxide in the blood is recommended, but not required, for medical surveillance. [Pg.1209]
