Immunoglobulin A

The immune globulins are contraindicated in patients with a history of allergic reactions after administration of human immunoglobulin preparations and individuals with isolated immunoglobulin A (IgA) deficiency (individuals could have an anaphylactic reaction to subsequent administration of blood products that contain IgA).

Astaxanthin has a significant enhancing action on the production of immunoglobulins A, M, and G and on T helper cell antibody production, even when subop-timal amounts of antigen are present.

The alternative pathway may become activated by lipopolysaccharides, endotoxin (sepsis), virus, fungi, immunoglobulin A-antigen (IgA-Ag) immunocom-plexes, and foreign material. These activate C3, after which the common pathway of complement activation takes place (Fig. 4). There are also a number of inhibitors that regulate and control complement activation. The dry matrix contains additives that need to be removed by these washing steps. Avoid mechanical stirring of the gel, since this cannot only damage the gel matrix, but can also lead to denaturation of the immunoglobulins. A convenient way to keep the matrix gently suspended is by placing the tube on a nutator or serum incubator.

To appreciate the BBB and intrathecal (ith) synthesis of immunoglobulins, a blood specimen should be taken as well. 

Dapsone is approved for the treatment of an autoimmune blistering skin disease, dermatitis herpetiformis. This intensely pruritic eruption is characterized histologically by a dense dermal infiltration of neutrophils and subepidermal blisters. Other skin diseases in which dapsone is helpful are linear immunoglobulin A (IgA) dermatosis, subcorneal pustular dermatosis, leukocytoclastic vasculitis, and a variety of rarer eruptions in which neutrophils predominate, including some forms of cutaneous lupus erythematosus.
