Ignition sources protection against

Leaks cannot lead directly to personal injury. They can lead to fire or explosion if there is an ignition source and to oil pollution if there is inadequate containment. Both the immediacy of the hazard developing and the magnitude of the hazard will be smaller with leaks than with overpressure. Thus, although it is necessary to protect against leaks, thi.s protection will not require the same level of safety that is required to protect against overpressure. [Pg.395]

INTERLINERS. These are intended to protect the filling against specified flammable cover fabrics. Interliners are tested with ignition source 5 over a standard PU foam to BS5852 Part 2. FR treated interliners shall be subjected to the specified water soak before testing Table VI. [Pg.507]

Ignition sources at devices, protective systems, and components must be avoided, depending on zones (Table 23-7) i.e., the zone determines the minimum extent of preventive measures against danger of ignition. [Pg.17]

To protect against the explosion and fire hazard, a plant manager should (a) have qualified plant personnel field monitor for explosive atmospheres and flammable vapors, (b) keep all potential ignition sources away from an explosive or flammable environment, (c) use nonsparking, explosion-proof equipment, and (d) follow safe practices when performing any task that might result in the agitation or release of chemicals. [Pg.67]

DISPOSAL AND STORAGE METHODS absorb in sand or other inert absorbent, and place in sealed containers in a secured, sanitary landfill atomize in a suitable combustion chamber equipped with an appropriate effluent gas cleaning device keep in tightly closed containers protect against physical damage isolate from incompatible substances and from any source of heat or ignition. [Pg.573]

DISPOSAL AND STORAGE METHODS manage whatever cannot be saved for recovery or recycling in an approved waste disposal facility dispose of container and unused contents in accordance with federal, state and local requirements store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area keep in tightly closed containers and protect against physical damage separate from incompatible substances avoid heat, flames, and ignition sources. [Pg.649]

Table 4.18 provides an overview of protective measures against ignition sources. [Pg.171]

For materials that are potentially dust explosive, nitrogen blanketing can be used for protection against ignition sources. Once diluted within the final product mix, this risk is usually removed. [Pg.349]

So the reason no heat is added — to avoid spark sources which might ignite the flammable solvent and no solvent concentration is permitted above 25% of the lower explosive limit, so as to have no ignitable mixtures — is to be doubly protective against the serious hazard of ignition of flammable solvents. [Pg.55]

Precaution Flamm. flamm. limifs 1.0-10.6% vol. in air eliminate all sources of ignition keep away from strong oxidizing materials Hazardous Decomp. Prods. Hazardous combustion prods. CO, COj, NO Storage Hygroscopic, protect against humidity... [Pg.337]

Keep away from sources of ignition — No Smoking — Take precautionary measures against static discharges — Wear protective clothing and gloves (S16,S33,S36/37)... [Pg.581]
