Idle current measurement

From the idle current measurement, the temperature Tq value is calculated. From the pulsed current measurement, the Tj value is then calculated. The difference in femperafures is ... [Pg.151]

Every active device has a temperature-dependent parameter that can be used with the theta-JC tester to directly measure thermal resistance. These parameters are listed in Table 3.5. A typical circuit for measuring the thermal resistance in a junction diode is shown in Figure 3.26. The diode is biased on with an idle current Ig, which sets a low power level Pq, in the device that results in a junction temperature of Tq. The power (Pg) in the idle state is [56] ... [Pg.149]

LDL cholesterol values that underestimate cardiovascular risk because they exclude some of the atherogenic lipoproteins. Moreover, this might occur more frequently with patients with CHD or who are at risk for CHD based on their LDL cholesterol concentrations. Consequently, the NCEP Working Group on LDL cholesterol measurement suggested that LDL cholesterol values should not be corrected for the contribution of other atherogenic hpoproteins, and also recommended that further research be conducted to establish the individual contributions of IDL, Lp(a), and LDL cholesterol to the CHD risk as reflected in current LDL cholesterol measurements that include all three lipoprotein classes. The... [Pg.950]

Even for simpler approaches to the estimation of costs, not based on survival analysis, it can be difficult to calculate an individual cost for every patient. For example, if one only uses patients still in the trial to calculate costs and there are progressive drop-outs, the mean cost between visits will be based on progressively fewer patients. If one then uses these means to estimate naively what the average patient would consume in resources at each period in order to cumulate these, then one has a total cost which is not based on individual total costs and for which a measure of variability cannot be directly computed. On the other hand, if one were to use only those patients who provided cost information for the whole period - the completers - one would be throwing away information. Ideally some sort of random effect model with suitable assumptions would be used but it is idle to pretend that this is easy and currently within the grasp of most investigators. [Pg.413]

More recently data reportability has been linked to the repeatability of measurement of samples after a more or lass extensive sample preparation and analysis process. Many analytical chemists currently consider it improper to report measurements observed to be below their Method Detection Limit (MDL). They fail to recognize that the measurement was in fact above the IDL and is therefore a real result. [Pg.319]

Extra power is also necessarily supplied to the motor, when the power factor is less than unity. The power factor will never be unity, and is a measure of how much the current lags or leads the applied voltage. It is measured as the cosine of the phase angle between current and voltage. When an induction motor is connected to an AC electrical supply, whether the motor does useful work or not, a current is drawn to excite the motor. This current, instantaneously on start-up. lags 90° out of phase with the voltage, and is reactive current, or so-called idle or wattless current. The power factor increases as the motor accelerates. [Pg.197]
