Power transmission hydrostatic

Powershift transmission is now standard equipment on medium-sized vehicles (up to about 1001), while mechanical gearboxes are used only in the smaller types of vehicle. For heavy dump trucks (above about lOOt) mechanical transmission systems are now obsolete. These vehicles have diesel-electric drive or have direct-drive axle motors (mechanically connected to the wheels) or wheel-hub motors. The third possibility is hydrostatic power transmission. [Pg.442]

Hydrostatic power transmission (displacement-type transmission) (see Pig. P-73)... [Pg.643]

Fluids readily All any available space, move easily, and can transmit pressure in all directions. These peculiarities have, for a long time already, made fluids the most valuable agents to transmit and transform energy for technical applications. While it is typical of hydrostatic power transmissions to transmit pressure (displacement-type transmission), it is a main characteristic of the hydrod3mamic power transmissions that they utilize the mass forces of circulating operating fluids. [Pg.645]

Hydraulic system filters are used to considerable effect for a wide range of automotive and mobile applications, including constantly variable, automatic and hydrostatic transmissions, active, anti-roll and automatic ride height suspensions, and other power transmission systems. [Pg.333]

Hydrostatic Transmissions. The most recent use of hydrauhc power has been in hydrostatic transmissions which are used in many self-propelled harvesting machines and garden tractors and in large tractors and constmction machines. Apphcations in tmcks for highway operation also are being developed. No clutch is used and no gear shifting is involved, thus this type of transmission could be called automatic, but in all other respects the hydrostatic transmission has no similarity to the hydrokinetic automatic transmission (16). [Pg.270]

Compared to other biomolecular systems, lipid bilayer membranes and lyotropic lipid mesophases in general have been shown to respond most sensitively to hydrostatic pressure. The methods used in the high pressure studies have mainly included X-ray and neutron diffraction, fluorescence, IR and Raman spectroscopy, light transmission and volumetric measurements. Only a small amount of work has been performed using NMR techniques combined with high-pressure, a field which was pioneered by Jonas and co-workers " although the method is very powerful, non-invasive and allows the study of a series of structural and dynamic properties of the systems in detail and with atomic resolution. [Pg.165]
