Other chemicals used historically as Hquid sterilants include a solution based on hydrogen peroxide (qv). This was once offered commercially. 

Other Sterilants. Sterilization methods, developed in response to the requirements of a low temperature, noncorrosive stedlant and rapid turnaround time required by most hospitals, include use of hydrogen peroxide vapor, hydrogen peroxide plasma, and peroxy acetic acid. Acceptance of these methods was not universal as of this writing (ca 1996).

Ethylene oxide and hydrogen peroxide are the typical gases for gas sterilization. Their advantage is that they can be used at much lower temperatures than steam sterilization 27-60 °C for ethylene oxide and 25-40 °C for hydrogen peroxide. Another advantage is that they do not cause damage to the product or the packaging. 

O Hydrogen peroxide is often used to sterilize wounds. The fizzing that occurs is caused by catalase in the blood acting on the hydrogen peroxide. Bacteria that do not have catalase to disable the hydrogen peroxide are killed by this chemical. Humans are protected by the presence of catalase. Not all bacteria are killed by hydrogen peroxide, however, because some bacteria do have catalase.

Adverse oxidation of membrane occurs at higher concentrations of oxidizers such as chlorine, ozone and hydrogen peroxide. The chemicals are important for slime control, and rather high concentrations of the chemicals are dosed for sterilization of RO feed system, especially in cases of ultrapure water system, and of waste water treatment system. The evaluation of membrane durability against oxidizing chemicals informs us the proper procedures for RO maintenance. 

Hydrogen peroxide is used as a sterilant or preservative for milk and whey it destroys harmful micro-organisms. Any excess hydrogen peroxide left in the milk or whey after treatment can be decomposed to water and oxygen using an enzyme (catalase). 

Hydrogen peroxide is a very effective chemical sterilant and although it causes some damage to the physicochemical properties and nutritional value...

The entire surface of the laminate is sterilised with hydrogen peroxide before it is filled and shaped into packs. This has proved to be a very efficient and safe technique. The filling takes place in a sterile environment which is small and has few moving parts. These are important factors that contribute to the integrity of the system. The packs are sealed through the liquid, which means they are completely filled and the contents are thus fully protected against oxidation. The brik format makes very effective use of materials and economical use of bulk volume in palletisation and distribution 93% is product and only 7% is primary and secondary packaging.
