A survey of veterinary drug use and residues in milk has been carried out in Hyderabad, India (34). The results of this survey showed that oxytocin and oxytetracycline were frequently used in veterinary formulations. As a result, a total of 9% of the marketed milk samples and 73% of the individual animal milk samples of the 205 milk samples analyzed in this survey contained oxytetracycline residues. Residual concentrations ranged from 0.2 to 1.4 ppm in marketed milk and from 0.2 to 6.7 ppm in samples obtained from individual buffaloes. In contrast, none of the government dairy samples analyzed was found to contain oxytetracycline residues. Maximum oxytetracycline intake by humans through consumption of such contaminated milk was calculated at the level of0.045 mg/kg body weight (bw)/day. [Pg.480]

With CO2 extraction it is possible to produce colour extracts up to 3,000 AST A from Indian chili. These extracts still contain 2 to 2.5 wt.% capsaicin, which can be removed in a second CO2 extraction step, if desired. The result is a high concentrated colour extract with a colour value up to 5,000 AST A and more, and a highly pungent fraction containing capsaicin up to 20 wt.%. Such extracts are produced, for example, in a multi-purpose plant at Novo Agritech near Hyderabad, India. [Pg.560]

J. Subhash Chandra, born in 1978 (Calcutta, India), received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1998 from Pondicherry University, India. He then completed his Masters in Chemistry from the University of Hyderabad, India. He started his Ph.D. under the supervision of Professor P. V. Ramachandran at the Herbert C. Brown Center for Borane Research, Department of Chemistry, Purdue University, as an International Graduate Scholar in the Fall of 2000. After completing his Ph.D. in Summer 2005, he worked with Professor Amos B. Smith, III, at the University of Pennsylvania as a postdoctoral research assistant from Fall 2005 to Summer 2006. He is currently working with Professor M. Venkat Ram Reddy at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Minnesota Duluth. [Pg.653]

Inspired by this work (24), we used Bayesian methods (24) with molecular function class fingerprints of maximum diameter 6 (53) to identify substructures that were shown to be important in recent TB screening datasets (21-23). Bayesian models were built with the previously described Molecular Libraries Small Molecule Repository (MLSMR) 220,463 library (4,096 active compounds) (15) and dose-response data using 2,273 molecules (475 active compounds). In addition, these models were tested (15) with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) data and GVK Biosciences (Hyderabad, India) datasets used by Prathipati et al. (24). We have validated the models with compounds left out of the original models, in some cases showing up to tenfold enrichments in finding active compounds in the top-ranked 600 molecules (22). [Pg.251]
