Honeycomb pipe

A typical honeycomb pipe weighs 10—15% of a conventional hberglass pipe, and is signihcantly lighter when compared to a steel or concrete pipe. All of the aforementioned factors contribute to the low cost of this pipe. The sections of this pipe will be built in advance and will be used to slip-line the existing deteriorated steel pipe in the held. [Pg.52]

Honeycomb monoliths (Fig. 6.1) are structured catalyst supports consisting of parallel straight capillary channels. Nowadays, they are widely used for the catalytic exhaust converter in the automobile industry and end-of-pipe gas cleaning. Impact Modifiers Impact modifiers are either systems with spherical elastomer particles in a rigid polymer matrix or they are systems with a honeycomb, network type of dispersed elastomeric phase. For the spherical elastomeric particles, examples are acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), methacrylate-butadiene-styrene (MBS) and acrylics. These systems are either graft copolymers of methyl methacrylate-butyl acrylate-styrene or methyl methacrylate-ethylhexyl acrylate-styrene. For the honeycomb, network type of dispersed elastomeric phase ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) or directly dispersed rubber are examples. Both of these two impact modifiers exist in the polymeric form, hence they can hardly migrate and evaporate because of their size. As a result, they pose almost no problems to health. For PVC window frame production, usually the first type (and acrylic impact modifiers) are used while MBS modifiers are found to be very effective in plasticised as well as in rigid PVC. CPE is mainly used in PVC for products like sheet, pipe, gutters and sidings. [Pg.429]

The drum deck is formed by replaceable filter grids (sieve-plates), which support the filter cloth required for retention of the solids. The filter cloth (usually fabric or metal) is placed into the division strip grooves and fixed by means of a rubber caulk or similar. The supporting filter grids are honeycomb in form, whereby the largest possible cross-section and high filtration capacities are achieved. In the propylene version, as a result of the non-sticky properties of this material, encrustation is virtually excluded. At one end of the drum, there are radial outlet coimections for each cell for the filtrate draw off. These are readily accessible, and do not project beyond the level of the drum deck.
