In formation water from the High Island field, offshore Louisiana, Kharaka et al. (1986) identified, but did not quantify, a number of species. These included phenol, 2-, 3-, and 4-methylphenol, 2-ethylphenol, 3,4-, and 3-,5-dimethylphenol, cyclohexanone, and 1,2-, and 1,4-dimethylbenzene. Rapp (1976) identified several amino acids including serine, glycine, alanine, and aspartic acid in low concentrations (<0.3 mg/1) in oil field waters. 

Oxide films formed at low temperatures are initially continuous and amorphous, but may undergo local crystallisation with the incorporation of the oxide islands , a process that is facilitated by water, heat, high electric fields and mechanical stress...

Samples from Sigh Island 573 field (Mobil Oil) except sample 83-TX-12, which is from High Island 571 field (Columbia Gas). Depth is that of midpoint of perforation below sea level (depth of water column is -Temp, is the measured subsurface temperature. TDS = mg L total dissolved solids. Aik is field-titrated alkalinity as HC03 and comprises organic as well as inorganic species.

Nanocrystals are receiving significant attention for nano-electronics application for the development of future nonvolatile, high density and low power memory devices [1-3]. In nanocrystal complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) memories, an isolated semiconductor island of nanometer size is coupled to the channel of a MOS field effect transistor (MOSFET) so that the charge trapped in the island modulates the threshold voltage of the transistor (Fig. 1).
