High effect pigments

The Impedsuice technique permits observation of the effect of modifying dltlves on protective properties of highly zlno pigmented coatings. 

Oxidized Starches. Alkaline hypochlorite treatment introduces carboxyl and carbonyl groups, effects some depolymerization, and produces whiter (bleached) products that produce softer, clearer gels. Ammonium persulfate is used in some paper mills with continuous thermal cookers to prepare in situ bigb solids, low viscosity dispersions. Most of the hypochlorite-oxidized starch and all the ammonium persulfate-oxidized starch is used in the paper industry. The low solution viscosity and good binding and adhesive properties of these products make them especially effective in high solids, pigmented... 

For ceramic and glaze applications, the effect pigments based on substtates like mica are coated with an additional Sn02 layer to give stabilization against the aggressiveness of the frits at high temperatures [5.165]. 

A newly developed pigment pad dyeing anti-migrant for use on cotton and polyester-cotton. Totally water soluble highly effective. 

Is a highly loaded pigment white with superior hiding power, excellent wash fastness with a bright cold white shade. Excellent for white-on-white effects as well as stand-out effects on dark ground shades. 

Many dyes end pigments such as titanium and zinc oxides function as photosensitizers forming singlet oxygen and hydrogen peroxide (20). However, a relatively large concentration (5-10%) of zinc oxide in combination with zinc dialkyldi iocarbamate is a highly effective protectant system for polyolefins exposed out-of-doors (21). 

Like agitator mills, roller mills are also used to disperse and homogenize highly viscous pigment pastes (Fig. 7.12). Roller mills are often also used for finishing (postdispersion or fine dispersion, e.g., in ink production). The fact that dirt and coarse particles float to the top in the feed nip is a beneficial side effect the roller mill acts as a filter. 

Arylamines act as primary antioxidants by donating hydrogen. They are highly effective because they act both as chain terminators and peroxide decomposers. Negative properties include their tendency to discolour and stain and their toxicity, which precludes their application in non-pigmented plastics and those intended for food use. Arylamines are included in black wire and cable insulation and polyurethanes. 

Colorants can be subdivided into dyes, and dispersed organic, inorganic and special-effect pigments. The technique for applying the colour to the product usually involves precolour (material that is already compounded to the colour desired), dry colour (powdered colorant), liquid colour or colour concentrate (high loading colorant in a base resin).
