A wide choice of cationic surfactants such as CTAB (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide), CTAH (cetyltrimethylammonium hydroxide), TTAB (tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide), TTAOH (tetradecyltrimethylammonium hydroxide), MTAB (myristyltrimethylammo-nium bromide), OFM (OFM Anion-BT, Waters, Milford, MA, USA), HDB (hexadimethrine bromide), and many others may be used to reverse the EOF. CTAH and TTAOH should be preferred to CTAB and TTAB to avoid interference from bromate contamination. A method of microfahrication based on multicomponent laminar flow inside microchannels was developed by Whitesides, Kenis and colleagues [257, 258]. Laminar streams of solutions enable a reaction at the interface between streams to make membranes inside the microchannel. The mixing of solutions containing stoichiometric amounts of polyanions and polycations, which can be described in the equation [Cp s] otpos= [Cpeg] otneg, generally leads to the precipitation of both species.
