Gunn-effect oscillators (or Gunn diodes as they are frequently called, although technically, they are not diodes) in a resonant cavity can be used to make very simple low power microwave oscillators. Handheld radar speed detectors use Gunn-effect oscillators as their microwave source. 

A comparison of the activities of these three alkaloids lias been made by Graliam and Gunn using their antagonism to the effects of carbamjd-choline chloride on isolated mammalian intestine. The relative activities found were, atropine sulphate 1 I-hyoscyamine sulphate 2-4 hyoscine hydro bromide 1-5. The results of previous authors are discussed and reasons suggested for some of the differences found.

Hollow cylindrical catalyst pellets are sometimes employed in commercial chemical reactors in order to avoid excessive pressure drops across a packed bed of catalyst. A more complex expression for the effectiveness factor is obtained for such geometry. This case was first discussed by Gunn [4]. Figure 2 illustrates the effectiveness factor curves obtained for the slab, sphere and cylinder.

The effect of water influx on product gas heating value and production rate is illustrated in Figure 5. These computed results are qualitatively consistent with experimental results from the Hanna tests. The optimum water influx ratio found by Gunn, et al. (1, 2) is not observed, but it is clear that such an optimum must exist at a smaller value of water influx ratio than investigated here. In the total absence of water only devolatilization will contribute to product gas heating value.
