Chlorinated paraffins with the general molecular formula x 2x-y+2) have been manufactured on a commercial basis for over 50 years. The early products were based on paraffin wax feedstocks and were used as fine retardants and plasticizers in surface coatings and textile treatments and as extreme pressure—antiwear additives in lubricants. The development of chlorinated paraffins into new and emerging technologies was constrained principally because of the limitations of grades based on paraffin wax and the lack of suitable alternative feedstocks to meet the demands of the new potential markets. 

Vertical Drums - The wetted vessel surface within 7.5 m of grade, based on normal high liquid level, is used. If the entire vessel is 7.5 m or more above grade, then only the surface of the bottom head need be included. 

The acid resistance called for on domestic appliances varies with the particular component, e.g. the oven interior of a gas cooker necessitates a higher resistance than the outside sides —the former being at least Class A using 2% sulphuric acid while the latter can have a lower grading based on the less aggressive citric acid tests. These tests are detailed in BS 1344 Part 3 (ISO 8290) and BS 1344 Part 2 (ISO 2722), respectively.

Sorbitol is an odorless powder that is white or almost colorless. Various grades based on particle size are available, and it is obtained in various forms such as flakes, granules, pellets, or powder.

Purity, when reported, ranges from 99 to 99.99%. Acidity (as hydrochloric acid) may be up to 5 mg/kg. The maximum concentration of water in these grades of dichloromethane is 100 mg/kg (Rossberg et al., 1986 Holbrook, 1993 Dow Chemical Co., 1995 Vulcan Chemicals, 1995, 1996a,b,c,d).

Acrylonitrile-Butadiene Rubbers (NBR). Acrylonitrile-butadiene rubbers (NBR), or simply nitrile rubbers, are copolymers of butadiene and acrylonitrile. They are available in five grades based on the acrylonitrile (ACN) content. 

Follicular Lymphoma (FL). These tumors are indolent, primarily nodal, lymphomas and are composed of a mixture of centrocytes and centro-blasts. These lymphomas are graded based on the number of centroblasts, which are the proliferating cells.

Syrup is also graded based upon its flavor. Although this is somewhat subjective, experienced producers are able to distinguish the general category and intensity of maple flavors, as well as detect gross off-flavors that cause syrup to be down-graded to a commercial or substandard level.

Although the specifications by the National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA) Year Book and Trading Rules, 1998-1999 (135) recognizes color grades based on unbleached, bleached, and double-bleached lecithins, this nomenclature is technically incorrect as it is more descriptive of the process rather than of the product.
