The organization and the number and qualifications of personnel should be adequate for the purposes of operation of the plant, the outage work to be performed by the plant s staff, and supervision of the work of contractors if these are used. [Pg.11]

Following any abnormal event, the operating organization is required to revalidate the safety functions and the structural and functional integrity of any SSCs that may have been challenged by the event. Necessary corrective actions are required to include maintenance, surveillance and in-service inspection, as appropriate [1]. [Pg.11]

In planned shutdowns the opportunity should be taken to undertake MS I activities. In the event of an unplanned shutdown, it should be considered whether it would be useful to undertake MS I. Refuelling activities should be taken into account in relevant MS I schednles. Suitable schedules for MS I should be readily available for unplanned as well as planned shutdowns. [Pg.11]

Conhol room operating personnel are directly responsible for safe operation of the plant, including its continued configuration control. They should be informed (by means of a work permit procedure, for example) of aU MS I work before it is commenced, of any changes to the plant that this work entails, and of the return of plant systems to the control of the operator. For asbestos removal, the provisions of the OSHA Asbestos Standard 29 CFR 1926.1101 are more protective of worker health and safety than are the more general provisions. The HASP therefore provides that the asbestos removal tasks conducted inside the building will be performed in accordance with the OSHA Asbestos Standard. After the asbestos has been removed, the lead-based paint will be removed. Again, the provisions of the OSHA Standard for lead removal are more protective of worker health and safety than are the more general provisions of 29 CFR 1910.120. Therefore, the removal of the lead-based paint inside the building will be performed in full compliance with the OSHA Lead Standard [1]. [Pg.24]

Quality plans are needed when the work you intend to carry out requires detailed planning beyond that already planned for by the quality system. The system will not specify everything you need to do for every job. It will usually specify only general provisions which apply in the majority of situations. You will need to define the specific documentation to be produced, tests, inspections, and reviews to be performed, and resources to be employed. The contract may specify particular standards or requirements that you must meet and these may require additional provisions to those in the quality system. Although ISO/TS 16949 requires the plan to include customers requirements, the intention is not that these requirements are reproduced if provided in a documented form by the customer, but that a cross reference is made in the plan together with any other relevant specifications referred to in the contract. However, when constructing the plan, it would make sense to refer to specific customer requirements and provide a response that indicates your intentions regarding those requirements. [Pg.188]
