G definition

The N-doped carbons with a nanotube backbone combine a moderate presence of micropores with the extraordinary effect of nitrogen that gives pseudocapacitance phenomena. The capacitance of the PAN/CNts composite (ca. 100 F/g) definitively exceeds the capacitance of the single components (5-20 F/g). The nitrogen functionalities, with electron donor properties, incorporated into the graphene rings have a great importance in the exceptional capacitance behavior. [Pg.42]

Over the last years, the basic concepts embedded within the SCRF formalism have undergone some significant improvements, and there are several commonly used variants on this idea. To exemplify the different methods and how their results differ, one recent work from this group [52] considered the sensitivity of results to the particular variant chosen. Due to its dependence upon only the dipole moment of the solute, the older approach is referred to herein as the dipole variant. The dipole method is also crude in the sense that the solute is placed in a spherical cavity within the solute medium, not a very realistic shape in most cases. The polarizable continuum method (PCM) [53,54,55] embeds the solute in a cavity that more accurately mimics the shape of the molecule, created by a series of overlapping spheres. The reaction field is represented by an apparent surface charge approach. The standard PCM approach utilizes an integral equation formulation (IEF) [56,57], A variant of this method is the conductor-polarized continuum model (CPCM) [58] wherein the apparent charges distributed on the cavity surface are such that the total electrostatic potential cancels on the surface. The self-consistent isodensity PCM procedure [59] determines the cavity self-consistently from an isodensity surface. The UAHF (United Atom model for Hartree-Fock/6-31 G ) definition [60] was used for the construction of the solute cavity. [Pg.410]

Everyone writes down a vote (e.g., definition number 3) and, when all have voted, each person announces his vote to the group. People laugh at who fooled whom and how. The real definition is read aloud by the host. [Pg.76]

Moreover, PT providers across the EU do not have a harmonised evaluation of the performance of the laboratories in these exercises (e.g. definition of the reference value). For this reason, an initiative is under way for harmonisation among WFD-PT providers, which could lead in the longer term to some kind of notification from public authorities in order to have a pan-European view on the minimum criteria for appropriate participation of laboratories in PTs (frequency of participation, scope of the PT scheme, equivalence of schemes), on what to do exactly with the outcomes of the participating laboratories (e.g. training, corrective actions) and, finally, on the criteria for suspending laboratories. [Pg.407]

Chapter 2 discusses several aspects of speciation analysis, e.g. definitions, existing regulations and sources of errors likely to occur at various steps of the analytical procedures. It is followed by Chapter 3 describing general principles of improvement schemes (organizational aspects) and basic requirements to be followed for the certification of reference materials. [Pg.5]

Thus, the plateau modulus depends only on the combination of the two parameters. In the limit of Ns— 0, the plateau modulus is inversely proportional to and is independent of Ns. This is reminiscent of the tube theory discussed around Figure 19, with G or G " definitions. However, the underlying dynamics in the slip-spring model is 3D, which can lead to some subtle differences as discussed below. [Pg.170]

Scientific data is stored in the Extensible Data Format (XDF). XDF itself follows the philosophy of an incremental standardization. It is an XML-based data format, which provides some basic features (e.g. definition of physical units, n-dimensional data structures). XDF can be extended to meet the requirements of certain scientific fields. Different XDF-based standards are always compatible at the level of the basic XDF functionality. In this project, XDF has been chosen as the basis for numerical and experimental data. The DocBook-standard defines the structure for text documents, with bibliographic information in terms of Dublin Core. [Pg.331]

Electrochemists tend to use the mAh/g (definition given in section 2.4.7) to characterize the materials used for electrodes. The same numerical value could be expressed in Ah/kg - these units are more closely related to the practices of electrotechnicians. The values are always high >100 Ah/kg. However, this is a measure of the performances of the material used for the electrode. In order to work out the mass capacity of an element, we must remember that there are two electrodes, but also the electrolyte, the current collectors, the casing, etc. [Pg.141]

In an ideal situation both the trapped ions and the cooling neutrals reach a thermal equilibrium at a common temperature T which is usually defined by the surrounding walls. As we have seen in Section 6.3.1.4 on the removal of particles from air by a fibrous bed via the mechanism of inertial deposition, if one can locate the limiting trajectory (dimension b in Figure 6.3.9A), the particle capture efficiency can be determined (e.g. definition (6.3.42a)). Determination of the limiting trajectory is achieved via particle trajectory analysis in the porous medium, i.e. the granular filter medium. The governing equation for particle motion in the inter-particle space is equation (6.2.45) ... [Pg.593]
