Furosemide drug interactions

Baker DE. Piroxicam-furosemide drug interaction. Druglntell ClinPharm (1988) 22,505-6. [Pg.951]

Profound hjrpotension, resulting in renal insufficiency, has been reported in a single patient after the administration of atenolol 100 mg orally (51) however, large doses of furosemide and diazoxide were also given in this case, and this appears more likely to have been a consequence of a drug interaction. [Pg.456]

Care needs to be taken when combining naproxen with other medications. Known adverse drug interactions can occur with aspirin, methotrexate, ACE inhibitors (for high blood pressure), furosemide, lithium, and warfarin (a blood thinner). An overdose of naproxen may cause dizziness, drowsiness, and gastrointestinal problems. High blood pressure, kidney failure, and coma may occur, but are rare. [Pg.480]

The clinical documentation seems to be limited to these reports. It appears to be a combination of a drug-drug interaction (clofibrate with furosemide) with or without a drug-disease interaction (clofibrate with nephrotic syndrome). The authors of one report suggest that serum proteins and renal function should be checked before giving clofibrate to any patient. If serum albumin is low, the total daily dosage of clofibrate should not exceed 500 mg for each 1 g per 100 mL of the albumin concentration. However, note that this guidance is old. [Pg.1090]

Drug interactions ibuprofen affects the antihypertensive effect of ACE inhibitors, reduces the natriuretic effects of furosemide and thiazides, elevates the plasma lithium level by reducing renal lithium clearance, enhances the toxicity of methotrexate, and affects prothrombin time. [Pg.216]

Drug interactions like other NSAIDs, plasma protein binding of ketorolac is extensive, leading to potential drug interactions due to displacement of other highly protein-bound drugs. Concurrent use of probenicid with ketorolac will decrease its elimination. Concurrent use of furosemide with ketorolac will decrease the diuretic s effect. Concurrent administration of other NSAIDs may increase plasma levels of ketorolac. [Pg.237]

Drug-drug interaction In a case-control study of 46 gout patients, 23 patients receiving concomitant furosemide and allopurinol showed significantly higher serum urate (P = 0.006) and plasma oxypurinol level (P=0.029), with no difference in urinary urate excretion (P = 0.9) compared with controls on a similar dose of allopurinol alone. This suggested an attenuated hypouricemic effect of allopurinol with concomitant use of furosemide [19]. [Pg.291]
