Diseases fungal

The following are fungal diseases — histoplasmosis, coccidioidomycosis, blastomycosis, paracoccidioidomycosis, cryptococcosis, sporotrichosis, candidiasis, aspergillosis, and mucormycosis. [Pg.436]

The economic damage threshold indicates the level of infection which is still just tolerable. This is exceeded when the fungal pathogen [Pg.193]

Monilinia brown rot Fungus grows after the blossoms open through the flower stalk into the wood and leads to the well-known brown rot appearance of first petals not determined risk of infection in cool wet weather. Cut out diseased shoots. Bear varietal differences in mind. Schattenmorelle especially susceptible [Pg.194]

Due to the divergence of fungal diseases, there is neither single best treatment nor a superior drug for all diseases. However, a superior drug does exist for dermatomycoses caused by dermatophytes, namely the allylamine terbinafine (TER). For the treatment of deep mycoses in immunosuppressed patients the most efficacious drug is the polyene Amph B. [Pg.133]

Sporotrichosis is the fungal disease caused by Sporotrix schenckii and involves the lymphatic and subcutaneous tissues. The lesions spread via the lymphatics from the original wound and form nodules or pustules that quickly ulcerate. Dissemination is rare. [Pg.1154]

The corticosteroid ophthalmic preparations are contraindicated in patients with acute superficial heq es simplex keratitis, fungal disease of the eye, or viral diseases of the eye, and after removal of a superficial comeal foreign body. [Pg.629]

The antibiotic and sulfonamide ophthalmics are contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to the drug or any component of the drug. These dru are also contraindicated in patients with epithelial herpes simplex keratitis, varicella, mycobacterial infection of the eye, and fungal diseases of the eye There are no significant precautions or interactions when the dru are administered as directed by the primary health care provider. [Pg.629]

Obviously, one looks for causes. That declines in one or another species have natural factor etiologies is unequivocal. The demise of American elms and of the chestnut were due to natural factors. Insect infestations, bacterial and fungal diseases, hurricanes, floods, freezes, droughts and many other stresses can cause extensive tree death (5). But in such declines typically only a single species is affected or climatic events caused decline in a delimited area. In almost all declines caused by natural events, the causal factors can be identified we know their precise etiologies. Natural events are always part of the natural environment and must be factored in when evaluating forest declines (Table I). [Pg.365]

Pesticides are used in accordance with local conditions. Fungal diseases affecting roots are treated by removal and burning of infected plants. It is especially useful prophylactically in nurseries and when establishing new plantings. Fungal leaf diseases are prevalent and usually treated with copper sprays. [Pg.53]

Fungal diseases are grouped according to the type of disease (or symptoms) that they cause, such as mildews, molds, or rots. Most spread from plant to plant in the form of spores. Some, like clubroot, have dormant spores that can remain viable in the soil for 40 years or more. The fungus that causes apple scab overwinters on infected debris such as leaves on the ground. Fungal diseases are more common in warm, damp conditions, which allow the spores to move freely in moist air and on a film of water on the surface of leaves. [Pg.88]
